Called in in the afternoon (en route to distant destination) to collect some draught beer for home consumption (2x4 pinters). Looked an interesting location but had not time to sample any. Big mistake because when I got home and tried the beers, one was undrinkable (end of cask) and the other was only marginally better. Too far to go back and exchange. Did use the contact form on their website to advise but did not even get an acknowledgement. Shame on you Allenwater!!

We happened upon this little place on a visit to Bridge of Allan.
At first it wasn't evident that it was open, but we ventured in to find it was - although at around 3pm we were the only ones there! However a few people did come in a bit later on.
It's quite an atmospheric place with shelves full of literally hundreds of beer bottles. I can imagine in winter when the place is full and they have live music on it will be an absolute hoot.
Not being real ale drinkers (which is unfortunate as all ales are brewed in house) we opted for the Scottish lager (4%) which went down very well, a nice refreshing drink - so much so I had three of them, just to make sure!
Dougie was a great host, very pleasant and easy to talk to. Despite being busy brewing he still made time to come and have a chat.
I would definitely recommend it and if we're in Bridge of Allan again we'll most certainly be popping in.

We visited for the brewery tour with lunch at the end of September. We were the only people in which meant a great tour with the brewer and owner. Both were very knowledgable and helpful. We got to sample 8 different beers before a lovely lunch. We mentioned a love of gin and the owner also let us taste some of their fantastic gins as well. There was also a range of bottled beers and gins available for purchase. This is a fantastic little place and well worth a visit.

Visited the brewhouse on 10/02/20 and we had a fantastic afternoon trying all the available beers on offer (pot black was great). Douglas was a fantastic friendly host and we will definitely be back again for another visit.

Called in after visit to Wallace monument and great find. Met the owner and very knowledgeable/ friendly. Great little place with great range of beers and history. Would go back again when next in the area ( and get taxi home). Came away with some stouts and some 80 shilling beer to take out. Do your research before you visit as you could easily miss it when walking past.

I regularly bring my language students, from all over the world, to this small, friendly Brewhouse. It’s a great way to learn English while hearing about the workings of a microbrewery and sampling some typical and unusual beers.
Well worth the trip from Edinburgh.
‘Friendly, good atmosphere, large variety of beers, good sandwiches and soup on the silver tour, - some of the comments from my students.’
Dogs always welcome.
