A cozy little bar in the Port Charlotte Hotel. Traditional music on Wednesdays and Sundays, summer and at least through September. An excellent selection of Islay whiskies, dome of which we will never see again. Food is available for non- residents, but booking a table is advisable.

Home made delicious food, from local produce. Smoked salmon on Hebridean Islands is just completely different from anywhere else and the trio was delicious with home-made bread as a starter as were the local scallops served with bacon. Home made salmon, broccoli and asparagus quiche with lovely crumbly pastry and lamb shank were equally good main courses. Hard to choose... More

It was a delightful experience to spend a Wednesday evening here. Great food, music and a very good selection of single malts and ales. It is probably one of the liveliest places to hang out in the evenings in Islay. It is wonderful as people come up to chat and the locals people of Islay are some of the warmest... More

We were finished our day's hiking and showed up at the Charlotte Hotel Bar not expecting too much. But in the event, the food was just outstanding, and I would recommend this place to anyone.

On a glorious sunny day we sat outside with our dogs and my partbner went to the bar for drinks, we then got hungry and I ventured inside to ask if we could bring dogs inside he said no, and when asked if he served food outside, his answer 'no!' , unhelpful and unpleasant man with a beard.

We stopped here a couple of times for a drink while camping by nearby. Nice place and friendly staff. My girlfriend dropped her purse and it was waiting at the bar 30 min later when she returned, so top marks.

I visited this hotel some year ago and really enjoyed the bar meal and we were well looked after. This visit was a great contrast. All the tables were marked reserved, we were asked to sit at a narrow table by the draughty door (most of the other "reserved" tables were never occupied whilst we were there. My companion asked... We visited this hotel for a coffee for the driver and a chance to taste some local ales, we weren't disappointed the welcome was great, pity we were only on the island for a week, when we return to the island this establishment is a must to visit and enjoy their hospitality and great menu!

Had a nice pint of beer after a long walk. Then went again on a Sunday evening when they have a music night. Three guys paying various instruments and then the guy behind the bar coming out to sing beautifully in gaelic. Topped off by a few whisky. Fantastic.

Thank you for your lovely review, it is good to hear that you returned to enjoy our traditional music evening. We offer a selection of local and guest ales and of course a dram of one of our wonderful Islay whiskies is a perfect way to end the evening. I hope you will return another time. More

We stayed in Port Ellen for our visit to the Isle of Islay, but had a lunch and a dinner at the Port Charlotte Hotel and Bar. The food was very good and the staff were delightful. We also stayed after dinner, Wed night to listen to some local, traditional music with flute, fiddle, banjo, accordion, and squeezebox.
