A fantastic way to see and experience all the island has to offer; coastline, wildlife and historic interests. Owner Jim is easily contactable, full of itinerary ideas and will set you up with everything you need to cycle the island safely.
My brother and I hired 2 touring bikes and a bike trailer from Islay Cycles for a week cycling and camping round Islay, Jura, and Colonsay. Jim and Lesley were so sweet and accomodating in kitting us out with everything we needed for the week...More

My husband and I had rented a cottage on Islay for a week and were looking to rent bikes to tour the island. After reading favourable reviews here on TripAdvisor, I emailed Jim from Canada and arranged everything. Jim has an excellent map on his...More
Jim was very easy to work with and we were very satisfied renting bikes from him. He provided helmets, gloves and a carry bag at no extra cost. His home was easy walking distance from Port Ellen, near the elementary school.

Thank you very much Katey for your kind review. I am glad you enjoyed your visit and took the trouble to write us up so generously. Haste ye back to Islay. Jim.
Highly, highly recommended! Jim has a huge variety of bikes available at very reasonable prices - we paid £15 per bike to cycle the Three Distilleries path (Laphroaig, Lagavulin, Ardbeg). The trail is brand new and beautifully paved, completely separate and safe from the road....More
Jim was wonderful! Has to be one of the nicest guys on the island! Always friendly and helpful even with non bike questions. Bikes were great we probably biked close to 50 miles in 5 days. I would highly recommend him to anyone without hesitation!

Hi Alasdair, sorry my previous message didn't register with the system. The island is deceptively hilly and bigger than most people realise. There are some easier routes around Port Ellen for the out-of-practice cyclist. I only do human powered bicycles. All the better for health and fitness.
