About
For nearly 200 years a small team of dedicated islanders have worked here to create what is considered to be the most distinctive single malt in the world. Of course over time the people change, but our traditional methods, the ancient skills and absolute dedication to quality always remains. We would be proud if you make the journey to visit our home and you will be assured of the warmest of welcomes when you do.

Beautiful Day Out
Sep 2021 • Couples
Well organised day out. The staff were friendly and the whisky was amazing. We had to ask for a dram which was facilitated. An improvement may be to offer guests a drink on arrival?

Slainte.
Sep 2021 • Couples
Very friendly welcoming team. Hospitality is what they do. We had a few complimentary drams (slainte 🥃) while waiting for our tasting experience to begin. It’s a shame we are still under some Covid restrictions as it would’ve been nice to tour the warehouses.

Another memorable visit
Sep 2021 • Couples
An absolute must visit whenever on Islay, the distillery is a beautiful historic place and the staff ate extremely welcoming, the distillery shop is a touch of class of also. Inside you will find many outstanding whiskies to sample and there is a fine selection to buy from.

Excited to visit our favourite whisky brand
Aug 2021 • Couples
We booked our holiday late so unable to secure a warehouse tasting but did book to visit the shop.
A dram on arrival and able to claim our square foot of Islay for which we reviewed a reward.
Pleasant gift shop with themed gifts.

Top tasting at one of the big distilleries
Aug 2021 • Couples
One of our favourite tastings on the island. Friendly host and a really interesting way to test the differences between bourbon and sherry cask whiskies. It’s great that you get to fill up a bottle to take home. The area outside is a nice place to sit and enjoy a whisky.

Best whisky!

Have always rated Laphroaig as among the world’s best whiskies, so it was a great pleasure to visit and have a look around, despite the pandemic restrictions.

Warehouse Tasting and Bottling
Aug 2021 • Family
We were met by our guide Amy who was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting session was superb and well led by Amy who talked us through the different whiskies. The rest of the staff in the shop were also really helpful and although you have as many free samples as you wanted there was no pressure to purchase anything although it was too good an opportunity to miss. Thanks everyone at Laphroaig.

A legendary distillery
Aug 2021 • Solo
A lovely spot by the water with experienced and welcoming staff. Obviously the sampling helped. A shame current restrictions limited tastings. However, where there's a will, there's a way.

How big is the tasting glass on the tour?
Is it a shot or dram?
As my wife wants to try a few distilleries as she lives Islay Whisky

What are the prices like for bottles in the shop compared to online or on the high street?
Are samples available to try (or buy)?
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I did not answer sooner. On the Water to Whisky tour we tasted 7 different whiskies but it is also possible to taste them in the bar. The prices are probably not much different than outside but there are some that can't be bought anywhere else.
The tour was well worth the money and we are still enjoying the Laphroaig Cardeus and others we bought.

Bonjour,
Je voudrais comprendre le fonctionnement des cartes à numéro dans les boîtes de whisky.
Merci d'avance

What airline did you use out of Glascow? Could you do this in one day? We only have a limited amount of time.
Thanks for your help.

Flybe is the plane company that services Islay. It really depends on the flight times available. You'll probably have to arrive one day and leave the next.
