A return to Stornoway … not the last.
Stayed in Lews castle for two nights on a 5 night tour of the west coast Highlands and Islands with my son and Dad. Lews castle simply was amazing . A couple of days prior to arriving got a precursor call from Matt who went through my stay and ensured I was informed and if there was anything they could do for our stay. This was a really nice touch, very personal and far from perfunctory. Met by Christina on arrival who was charming and professional. Shown to our rooms which were lovely, tastefully furnished and very well appointed(all the necessary white goods) . Had breakfast there on both mornings in the storehouse cafe. The staff there are also exceptionally efficient, courteous and professional. The light bite food was great too. The castle is beautiful and I took so many photographs (inside and out) which my friends and family are in awe at. The castle is within the beautiful castle grounds which is steeped in history(well documented on info boards) and really handy for the town centre. I really can’t fault this venue. The toiletries are white company and a complementary tea selection has sent me on a tea purchasing spiral with Pukka. I can only recommend this venue to all visitors to Stornoway or Lewis as it’s a phenomenal base for sightseeing. My Dad and wider family are from the town and this venue ensures I’ll return with greater frequency with my wife and other kids too. In short this is the well priced high end level of self catering, comfort and positioning that makes a great break. This has to be experienced and has injected another level of attraction and offers luxury accommodation for a Stornoway stay. I have no suggestions apart from a plea to continue with the excellent facilities and service . Will absolutely recommend and return.
Murdo-what can we say! Thank you for your incredible feedback-the team will be so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay-we await your return-armed with some Pukka tea bags! Kind Regards, TT Team.

    Worth A Visit
There was good parking. The grounds are dog friendly and extensive. There are amazing views of the harbour. My wife went to the museum and really enjoyed the exhibition. There are good toilet facilities. There are two cafes , one in the castle and the Woodlands cafe with its own parking. We ate there twice. The staff are friendly, the menu was good for snack meals and there were good toilet facilities

    Exceptional stay
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay in the Lews Castle. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Christina, who guided us to our elegantly decorated room. We received very helpful recommendations for exploring during our time on the island. Just before departing, we enjoyed taking in the most stunning views in the gardens, which my wife described as the best medicine! We would recommend a visit to the cafe during your stay in the castle, with a nod to the chef for the excellent soup, a delight to our tastebuds! For a self catering stay, Christina and her team made sure they went that extra mile to giving us the best experience! We are already planning our next trip back!

Lews Castle is magnificent & memorable!
Castle was a clean, quiet & very unique place to stay! Apartments are better than web site photos convey. Bathrooms remodeled and luxurious! Kitchens are huge with every appliance & more that you need - includes clothes washer. I highly recommend a stay at Lews Castle. Staff had excellent communication before arriving and a very warm welcome upon arrival.

    Impressive
We stopped in here to bisit the cafe and have a look around. A great cafe with friendly staff. The Castle itself is very impressive. Sadly we weren't staying so didn't have access to as many areas (something I shall rectify the next time we visit Lewis!) but still worth a stop and the grounds make for a lovely walk with some interesting history.

    Wonderful - must visit!
Had a wonderful experience for afternoon tea in the castle. Excellent service, staff very friendly and catered to our every need and more. Also attended a wedding here last weekend and after the reception staff met individuals who had allergies and gave them their own plates with appetisers! 10/10 all guests very impressed!

    A really nice stay
We booked a 3 room self catering suite. It was really nice and very well equipped. The staff met us at the door, despite arriving at 10PM, we phoned ahead to warn them that we were coming. The cafe in the Castle doesn't open until 10AM so we booked breakfast in the Royal Hotel, which is in walking distance across the footbridge.

Could take it or leave it
We visited as a stop on a tour, so we did not stay overnight at the castle. There isn't that much to see in the Castle itself if you're not rooming there. There is a ballroom with a piano, a library looking room, and a lovely hallway with a star painted ceiling. The castle is nice to look at it, but it was built by a rich man and never used as a royal palace or anything. The cafe food was pretty basic and tended toward breakfast foods, even at lunchtime which was disapponting. If you have time to visit, it is a cute quick stop, but if you have other things in your itinerary, you really aren't missing much.

Excellent accommodation - will be returning
Had a lovely stay at Lews Castle. Accommodation was excellent and the staff were very helpful. Christina was the perfect concierge and 2 of the staff in the cafe were really helpful the following day when they kept our luggage in their office whilst we looked around the museum and the grounds. 5 stars easily ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Great day out
Visited as part of our trip to the island. Did not disappoint. Small museum was very interesting, one of the best small museums we have visited, about island life and the Lewis Chessmen. Great walks around the grounds - weather helped, and beautiful views out to sea. Good service and choice on the cafe and a small shop selling locally produced goods.

Great place to stay. Booked 3 nights room only. Seaforth North room, very spacious, massive double bed and huge bathroom with bath/shower. Never been in a quieter hotel room in my life. Breakfast was in the Castle coffee shop and was just the job for the days travels ahead. Very attentive and helpful staff in the castle made it a enjoyable stay.

This is a fabulous place, set within lovely woodland over looking the harbour. We were greeted at the main door as our arrival was after 4pm and the castle is then closed for public access. Simon who met us was very friendly and courteous; he explained all we needed to know about our stay and showed us to our room. Had an amazing chat with him on the history of the castle and he kindly took the time out to show me around the public rooms on the ground floor.

Our room was the Lews Room, on the 1st floor. It was large and spacious; with a huge bed facing the large window overlooking the harbour. Modern clean line furnishing and a lovely modern bathroom with walk in shower. The room and the castle were warm and cosy. The place just had a lovely vibe to it and not what you would expect of a building like this.

There is no breakfast provided with our stay, as the accommodation is self catering apartments. Our room had the usual tea and coffee provision and no kitchen facility like other apartments, but the castle does have an on site cafe. We used this on our last morning and we weren't disappointed with the food or the service provided. We also used the bar on our first night; this would be a fab place to sit of an evening when in high season and there are more guests about.

The most important aspect of our stay was the staff... all very friendly, courteous and respectful and nothing was of a bother to them. Christina , Simon and those I didnt quite catch their names are an absolute credit to Lews Castle and Together Travel Co.

I will return and would highly recommend others pay a visit.

Lews Castle is a beautiful place to stay. The rooms are very spacious and furnished in a simple, yet classy and comfortable way. It's an amazing building to explore but what stood out for us the most was the staff. We had a few challenging personal circumstances while we were there and the staff were incredibly helpful - nothing was too much trouble and they showed genuine care in supporting us. We're looking forward to visiting again, perhaps in more of a 'holiday' mode as it's honestly one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. To Christina and Matt - thank you once again - you're both amazing!

What a place, ultimate 5 Star accommodation, I stayed in the one bedroom apartment which is a home from home with everything you require.
Spotlessly clean, very comfortable super king size bed with an amazing on-suite.
Views from the apartment are stunning.
Some lovely restaurants to discover in Stornoway where the food is amazing.
Car hire is recommended to see the real beauty of Lewis and Harris, beaches and landscape are beautiful.
I shall definitely return,

We were looking for a special place for a family celebration and we certainly found it here. From organising the booking of the dining room to booking rooms for ourselves and family, Christina, Matt and their team made the whole thing easy. Late changes were no problem, they handled the requests very professionally.
The dinner itself was fantastic. Good quality local food cooked to perfection. The hand dived scallops being a real highlight.
The accommodation was suitably grand, the apartments roomy and well equipped and the view from the Matheson apartment over the town and harbour were stunning.
It is rare to come across a team as helpful and obliging as Christina and her crew. All done with a smile as well.
If you want to treat yourself to a taste of the high life I can strongly recommend the Lews Castle.
We will definitely be back.

Staying in this castle was such a great experience. Our one bedroom apartment overlooked the water and Stornoway affording us beautiful sunrises everyday. You can wander around the main part of the castle and beautiful grounds. There is a cafe serving lovely meals too and is a short walk to the town centre. Itwas really comfortable and clean. We loved it. Just needed bathrobes.

Staff were lovely and pleasant. Nice & roomy, ideal for wheelchair/walking aid users.
However I wouldn’t rate the food or coffee.
Large latte I had was lukewarm, very weak too.
Scone-was hard, obviously been made a few days beforehand as when I cut into it you could tell by the white colouring that developed on the inside. I had one bite and left it at that. Jars of jam and clotted cream served alongside the scone.
Soup- very bland, no choice of salt or pepper on the table or alongside it. Had to wait a while to have some given to me when I asked.

Our stay was excellent - a lovely place which is well worth a visit.
We would particularly like to thank the member of staff who greeted us, showed us round and generally helped on other occasions. Unfortunately we don’t have his name!
