Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A gem of a place. We were welcomed in by an explainer who pointed out the main exhibits and told us about them. Really interesting! A very friendly place, well worth a visit. Spend an hour.

Very interesting little museum! Exhibits about life in the local area, both in history and about current day crofting. Clear explanations and signage in both Gaelic and English. Cafe did very good coffee and cake. Nice little gift shop with a variety of books, cards, and souvenirs. It was lovely to hear some of the staff switching so easily between Gaelic and English, I was staying in Stornoway and didn't really hear much spoken there sadly.

What a wonderful local museum to visit if you are in the area. A lady welcomed us into the museum in Gaelic then in English, made us so welcome and explained the lay out of the museum. Was interesting to read about the local area and to read the story about the ship disaster in the local area. Interesting film to watch on the culling of guga on Sula Sgeir island by the men from Ness. Local artists had their paintings on view and great items for sale in the gift shop. Lovely friendly staff in the cafe and home made tomato soup was delicious. Highly recommend a visit if in the area.

Excellent source for family research with helpful staff. Lunch was super tasty and great value, will be going back to try their delicious homemade cakes before we leave the island.
