Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Drive up to the lighthouse and was met by the owner who was questioned why we were here. Was very rude to us when we said we just came to have a look and started calling us “weird” for being near his property. The lighthouse and coast is definitely interesting to see though.

A lovely spot if you're into ornithology or other wildlife, on our visit there were several different sea birds to view.

Awesome! We weren’t at the viewpoint above the lighthouse long before someone spotted a rib cruiser in the water that was tracking a pair of humpback whales. Great views of the whales breaking the water, blowholes spraying, tails out of the water. Definitely humpbacks! Never seen anything like this from land before! It was a clear day, not too windy, but good shelter available from wind. Binoculars essential and an even better view from one of our party’s telescope. Spectacular! We were about to leave then we spotted a pod of dolphins not too far from the shore. Beautiful!

Beautiful sea views and wildlife watching. Lighthouse itself is now a dog and cattery. Seating available for wildlife watching.

It was a good way to experience the wild weather of Scotland. While we were there we had gale force winds and a good bit of rain. While not ideal that day for a picnic it was great for witnessing seagulls nesting in clumps of flowers to hide from the wind while huge waves crash around them! It is worth the trip, the drive is not just about this destination but others along the way! Don't be put off by the extra 20 minutes out of your way - lots of scenery to enjoy getting here.

This is the most windy place in Britain, but it was only about 25 mph the day we visited. There is nothing to do there as there is no cafe or visitor centre.

We visited this on a lovely day touring that part of Lewis. The lighthouse is interesting but the real treat is the views of the coastline and the sea crashing against the rocks. Definitely worth a visit.

Worth the drive for the views and the possibility of maybe seeing a whale (we didnt). You cannot visit the lighthouse though.
