About
The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Centre highlights the unique diversity of whales, dolphins and porpoises found in the waters of the Hebrides. Situated on the harbour front in Tobermory, we are open daily from 10:30 to 16:30 Saturday to Thursday during April and May. Open every day 10:30 to 16:30 from 1st June to 30th September. Opening part time for the autumn. As well as information on cetaceans, interactive exhibits, activities for children and a gift shop, we offer talks on Bones, Baleen and teeth, and access to our 16 years of data. This includes species information and sightings collected from our boat and citizen scientists. Recent sightings can be accessed from the centre and via our ' Whale Track' app. Entry to the centre is free - donations welcome. We also host evening talks and special events throughout the summer, including scientific talks and headland watches using Opticron binoculars.

Excellent

Popped in with my family yesterday and stayed to watch the educational video. Sounds dull but it's not. Latest sightings are reported and I was astonished to hear a pod if Orca passed by last week. It rains a lot here so anything to do indoors is a plus !

Really Well Executed
Sep 2019
This seemingly modest shop front opens up to brilliant informative displays that have been thought out with children in mind. The audio visual presentation is excellent.

The Trust has done a great job.

Useful guide to sealife
Aug 2019
We visited before going on a Sealife survey trip and the bug illustration on the wall is a quick and simple reminder about how to distinguish between all of the cetaceans you might see in the Hebrides. Applaud their efforts to reduce one off plastics, but this is slightly tainted by many of their products being Chinese in origin and therefore questionable in terms of sustainability. This is a good place to take children on a wet day.

The shop and information centre is a great place to visit in Tobermory. The volunteer staff bring information and friendly service to visitors. There’s a range of useful environmental products in the shop too.
There’s a great video presentation about the work of the trust and the work done by Silurian the research vessel is also show cases here c

Brief visit whilst in Tobermory
Jun 2019 • Friends
A pleasant friendly and interesting exhibition with an illustrated board showing recent sightings of cretaceous creatures and basking sharks. The sea around the Hebrides isles is worth exploring to see the rich habitat and the wide variety of creatures which live or pass through the waters. This Trust is worth visiting if only to reiterate the sea life on offer for those taking the time to look.

Size isn't everything!!
Jul 2019 • Family
Passed this building hundreds of times but never ventured in! With family visiting we thought we'd give it a wee visit. Exhibition is free, but donations welcome.
Inside is very 'compact' but packed full of interesting cetacean facts and pictures. We spent an hour in exhibition, cracking the codeword kept kids busy! There is also an escape room, but alas wasn't available on the day we visited.
Overall, a nice friendly and interesting exhibition in centre of town right next to the beach
Good to kill an hour or so when in Tobermory.

Small but interesting area. Provides a couple of films about the Trust and the data collected. Good souvenirs at a reasonable price. Helpful information provided by staff.
