We have stayed on the Island for the last 7 years and have a great time having the six acre Island to ourselves. The hide on the... More

Excellent and informative display about the author, Gavin Maxwell, otters and the local environment. This would be particularly good for children with lots of things to touch and feel.

We were at a loss to find something to fill in a short stay and hoped to get some ideas here. We found the lady in attendance helpful but really unable to provide much in the way of an option. So....nothing ventured, nothing gained but we achieve little from our short visit here.

The idea of the centre is good enough but when arranging the tour they offered we were let down as the guide didn't turn up! Managed to get a refund though by the lovely lady in the shop. Hope they get better organised as it would be a pity to see them fail due to poor organisation.

A great legacy for Gavin Maxwell. The centre is informative and has some nice gifts to buy. The staff are well informed and friendly. I went on the tour round the island, Gavin Maxwell's last home. The house is fascinating and seems like a really comfortable home. The island is lovely and i would have liked to just walk around... More

Day trip out to Kyle so we walked over the bridge passing Gavin Maxwells cottage the setting for his book "Ring of Bright Water" about his otter. On the Kyleakin side there was a visitors centre on the subject but unbelievably it was only open during the week and shut at weekends.

The lady in the centre was very welcoming and it was interesting to see the information and support the work of the trust. Bought a T-shirt for £10.25.

I visited with my husband & daughter, we all found it very interesting & enjoyed our time in the centre. The lady working there was really friendly & happy to explain things about the centre too, the entry fee is only £1 which is very reasonable.
