Our day with Mitch was the highlight of our whole trip. He was easy to talk to and incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his work. We took the foraging trip and even when the tide was in, preventing us from finding shellfish, Mitch still found endless seaweeds and plants to explore and taste providing fantastic information about each one. It was also nice to visit a part of the island that is probably missed by most tourists. If all that is not enough to convince you, he also has a gorgeous dog called Ghillie who is worth the trip on his own! I wouldn't hesitate to book another trip with Skye Ghillie if we visited again.

I booked a trip for my son and husband with Mitchell (Skye Ghillie) for two mornings of fishing while on a recent trip to Scotland in May. As we ended our trip to Scotland, both my fellows said that one of their highlights of the whole trip was being with Mitchell. My son said that even if they had not fished, it would have been worth it to go with Mitchell because of all of the information he told them about Scotland and Skye. It was like getting a great fishing trip, guided scenic tour, and history lesson - ALL IN ONE! This is a MUST-DO event if you find yourself near the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

We were on holiday in Skye and wanted a different day out ideally with a guide who knew the locality and not just a walk that we could discover ourselves from the many walk books. We contacted Mitchell well before our holiday and booked ourselves on one of his Wild Walks. We were honest about our interests and abilities ( couple in mid 50’s who like birdwatching and being outdoors but no rock climbing!). Mitchell was great and we spent the morning looking for Otters and then the afternoon for rare White Tailed Eagles. My wife was the first to spot the latter and soon we were ensconced on a hill watching them. Truly marvellous sight and one we would never had seen if just doing the touristy stuff. The weather wasn’t brilliant but it didn’t stop us. A great guy with so much knowledge about the environment, wildlife and fauna.

As a surprise for my 94yr old uncle I booked with Mitchell of Skyee Ghillie a half day fly fishing for salmon trip. Mitchell was able to get us just a few feet from the river so it was easy for my uncle to get to bank and fish. Mitchell was patient, funny, and obviously a fishing expert. My uncle enjoyed the time so much he didn’t want to leave the river and said it was the highlight of the trip. Thank you so much!

Take this trip to get away from it all, even for Skye. My wife and I took the all day adventure and truly enjoyed the trip with Mitch. He provided a wealth of information about Skye both concerning its nature and history. If you are into those things (history, nature) and like a good walk, then skip a few meals out and put that money aside for this trip. You won't be disappointed.
