This was a stop off on our North Coast 500 trip. We were originally going to see Sandwood Bay, as recommended in the NC500 guide book. No, no, said the locals, because it is in the guide book, everyone goes there. It is no longer...More

Not well known - but it was recommended by people we met on our trip, and well worth the effort of getting there - its a few miles out of Kinlochbervie, itself a diversion off the main road up the west coast. Well signposted car...More

A lot more accessible than Sandwood Bay, but still well off the beaten track. This is a beautiful and near deserted beach with fabulous white sand. There is a small car park nearby, which does limit the numbers that can get there.

Nice beach with parking close by although it was fairly busy when we were there with the now ubiquitous large white box camper vans - a number were clearly intending to stay there which means there is less space for people just wanting to visit...More

I'm not sure what I can really say about the beach, but it's beautiful, mesmerising and tranquil. I don't even really want to tell others about it as it's such a great, secluded spot. Water is crystal clear.

This is not an easy area to get to, but it is well worth it. Stunning. There are a few beaches to choose from, but allow plenty of time to get there on small roads...

A fine west coast beach with special views and very quiet. Short walk from the car park for the able bodied.

Pristine sands , stunning and unspoilt. Access from small car park and follow the track uphill to the left of the cemetery then follow the track down the other side. There are toilets in the car park but they were locked out of season. It is...More

The beach of Oldshoremore is spotless. There is a car park at the bottom of a single track road. There is a war memorial cemetery and then a path to the left of this that leads up through a gate to a bench. Sit and...More

Hello - I think the difficulty is knowing what to do with the car. You could try the Sandwood Bay car park at Balchrick, and then wildcamp like I did, or go further on to Shegra campsite at the end of the road.
