About
We are a social enterprise running wildlife safaris in the beautiful Loch Ewe area of the northwest Scottish Highlands. We aim to have safaris to suit everyone, from an hour to a day. Our safaris are educational, learning about the plants, insects, birds, fish and mammals of the area, and if we're lucky we might even spot one of our iconic species; red squirrel, otter, white-tailed sea eagle, red deer, black throated diver and lots more.

We booked the hour long otter workshop. Tracy was very responsive from first contact. She is extremely knowledgeable but very approachable, and we all felt we had expanded our understanding about these elusive aquatic animals. We didn’t see any otters during our time with Tracy, but we spent some time on the shoreline looking for clues, which we will use in earnest from now on in order to spot one!
Tracy is very passionate about wildlife, conservation and rewilding, and we left with a greater understanding of the pressures that wildlife faces in the local area. She operates as a social enterprise, giving profits to local wildlife trusts. We felt humbled by her contribution to wildlife and would thoroughly recommend booking an experience with Wild Ewe Safaris.

Tracy took us on an enchanting walk through the temperate rainforest near Poolewe and was full of fascinating information about and insights into the extraordinary wildlife there. That evening I found myself writing down the more surprising things I'd learned that day and have resolved to read more on various subjects. Would strongly recommend, and I hope to do more tours with Tracy when we are next in the area.

We got in touch with Tracy pretty last minute but she was very responsive and was able to offer us a shoreline tour the next day.
We all really enjoyed the tour, with some very interested facts and opened our eyes to all the nature around.
She pitched the talk wonderfully to the young kids and to us adults. The kids really did take a lot from it.
We would highly recommend one of Tracy’s tours, especially great that she offers a range of options. Tracy is knowledgeable but also very nice too. Thank you!

A lovely walk with Tracy, who pitched it just right for my two kids (11 and 13) who both have autism. The younger one was very inspired and has been recounting all the interesting facts he learnt from Tracy. She is really knowledgeable and passionate about this wonderful part of the world.

I cannot recommend Wild Ewe Safaris highly enough. We went on the Poolewe shoreline nature watch and the Rainforest safaris. Our very experienced local guide Tracy was excellent and unfazed by my urbanite ignorance of the natural world.
On the shoreline watch we saw a number of different birds from a very convenient hide. On my own I would not have seen any of them.
The rainforest safari was equally interesting taking in all aspects of the forest.
This is a great way of spending a morning or afternoon or longer depending on your schedule.

Thanks for a fantastic, informative and fun Otter Safari today. We thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt loads….who knew otters breed all year 😃. Or that otter poo smells like tea! 🤣. Tracy’s knowledge of, and passion for, all the local flora and fauna shone through and made for a great afternoon. Fantastic value for money (kids go free), no time pressure, and binoculars included to help with sightings 😃. A very worthwhile local conservation project: well done! Springwatch should pay Poolewe a visit. Meanwhile we’re off otter spotting with our new skills!

We had a fantastic walk around some rainforest in Inverewe with Tracy, who was very knowledgeable and interesting. Me and my wife both learned a lot , spotting signs of red squirrels, different plant and bird species and a greater understanding of the eco system in rainforests, great value for money and a must for anyone who is interested in nature. Many thanks to our guide Tracy 🙂

We joined the Shores, moors and woodlands scheduled safari. We really enjoyed our afternoon exploring different diverse habitats around Poolewe with Tracy, who was a very friendly and welcoming guide with a lot of fascinating local knowledge and wildlife spotting tips. The scheduled safari was just the right duration and not too long, but we packed a lot in exploring the plant and wildlife of the 3 different habitats. There is always the chance of seeing red squirrels, otters, or eagles, amongst other wildlife. I particularly liked examining the different types of lichens (given the potential for such magnificent wildlife in the area, i was surprised how amazed by the humble lichens i was!). It's also great that as a social enterprise, the more custom it gets the more investment is put back into supporting and promoting the local natural heritage and its benefits to people. I would highly recommend Wild Ewe Safaris.

Absolutely loved this. I booked with Tracey for an Otter Workshop with my 10 year old and 15 year old. We met at a wildlife hide where she shared her impressive knowledge for a very informative session about otters. We now know all about these lovely animals and how to spot them, learning all about otters, from their runs in the grass to smelling their poo! Tracey took us outside to look closely at their tracks, who would have thought how big their paws are! The session was only meant to be one hour but Tracey was kind enough to give us a lot more of her time and answered all our questions about not only otters but all the amazing birds we saw from the hide. We didn't see otters on that session but that is luck of the draw, we did see lots of other wildlife so we weren't disappointed. Thank you Tracey.

We really enjoyed our Otter Workshop with Tracy at the Inverewe Hide- including a search for otter tracks and poo. Although we were not fortuate enough to see otters at the time her expert guidance helped us to spot two pairs of otters a few days later. Many thanks.
