Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We visited late afternoon and mid morning the following day because it’s such a beautiful spot. The seals are adorable with their bobbing heads up and down. A lovely sandy beach makes for a nice walk too.

We were not sure about if we could see the seals but it was so great to see them in their natural habitat. They are curious and want to come close.

This was a great walk from the car park beside the golf course along a fantastic beach in the sunshine and with loads of seals bobbing up and down in the estuary. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back again.

This is by far the most beautiful beach I have been to. We visited at 5pm and it was quiet and so clean, we saw seven seals and they were so inquisitive they kept coming to see us. A beautiful place

Whether or not the seals make their presence known, this is still an amazing natural destination, both scenically, and for the wildlife. Not only is the dramatic sand-dune system here one of the most extensive in Europe, but it also has one of the largest colonies of Eider ducks too. Twitchers will be in their element at the sheer variety of birds here - including oyster catchers, terns, gulls and waders. We were delighted to spy several seals bobbing about in the slipstream of the river Ythan , and also in the sea at the mouth of the estuary, and certain they were catching fish.
Avoid walking on the slimy green seaweed, as not only is it slippy, but sinky, and you could end up with shoes full of sandy mud. By the looks of it the brand spanking new car-park will soon be open too, so no more haphazard parkers.

I understand that the existence of seals on the beach was not guaranteed, but there were no seals here for us. There is not a car park or it was closed for construction. People were just piled in whatever shoulder they could find. Despite the unseasonably warm weather in July 2022, it was very windy and cool and a jacket was appreciated. The beach is a bit muddy and although interesting, this one was a bit of a letdown.

Not a seal in sight, ride quite a bit just for a walk in the muck. All we saw were birds. Not worth the trip imo. The wind is wicked

The beach provided a very somber and mellow experience. No seals, when i visited, but instead...quicksand. Almost sank in, but due to skills learned in my childhood, i survived to tell the tale. 10/10

Loads of seals just can’t beat this area. Just about 10 miles north of Aberdeen. There is a nice hotel not far from area and a coffee shop too. Also a shop. What can go wrong. Nothing
