Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a great place to stay in. Comfortable beds, great shower, two sofas in the lounge. We thoroughly enjoyed our mini break of four nights there

Arkinglas was superb today. Our guide June was very knowledgeable and provided a terrific afternoon of interesting facts and made it such an enjoyable tour. Lots to see and it was so interesting. Gardens were beautifully kept and the views stunning. I will be recommending this beautiful house to friends and family and is so worth a visit.

So we rang up on spec to see if there was a tour on last Friday (only day they have them) and although the house was being used for filming, luckily for us there was a tour taking place. We were in a really small group of only 8 people and the guide was really friendly and knowledgable. It was clearly explained to us when we booked that a film company had taken over the house and so access would be restricted and not all the usual furniture etc would be in the right place - which was indeed the case. However, the guide was lovely and the film crew made it all a little bit more exciting. It was shame not to see all the furniture and treasures in their rightful place, but there was still an awful lot to look at.

Great Edwardian country house, fabulous views. Real history lesson from our lovely guide. Beautiful rooms and outstanding workmanship throughout, well worth a visit. And the Gruffalo Trail is in the grounds too for the wee ones. Very scenic grounds with a super wee lochan. The Ladies Garden features many rhododendrons and rare azaleas and is simply amazing in May (only open to the public for two weeks in May)

we visited Arkinglas House during a family visit and had a very personal conducted tour from one of the staff who had been there for many years. The house is being renovated in some areas and they were preparing for a wedding on the day that we visited. The gardens were well maintained and we walked around the little lake at the side of the house; we did not have time to see the whole garden but would return to view again.

Designed by Robert Lorimer the first sod was cut in May 1906 for Sir Andrew Noble, and was completed and furnished within 21 months!
Caithness roof slabs and sandstone had to be brought in by puffer boat.
Interesting room lay out, even photographic dark room.Huge kitchen rooms.Fine wood work and plaster work.
Original lighting powered from a hydro-electric power scheme.

Thank you for our first review. We enjoy showing people round and we do love it but unfortunately repairs and renovation take time and money. We hope you enjoyed it none the less.
