Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Really stunning place to visit. The walk is completely manageable and also fine for dogs to be off lead. Views are spectacular and the village ruins are amazing to see. Still parts of furniture and fireplaces there! Really worth popping by this site.

Beautiful location. Very interesting. Short but steep walk initially from the car park but this does level out. Manageable for small children and families. People with mobility issues May struggle a bit though. Amazing views from the village and you are able to explore the individual houses which of course are not complete. Definitely worth a visit and would make a great picnic spot ( take all rubbish home).

Arichonan was one of the very few places in the Western Highlands where people actually objected - to the point of rioting - to being 'removed' from their homes. Along with the McMillan family, one of the leading lights in this fight was a woman, Catherine McLachlan, widow of Peter Campbell. Feel the history of a deseted village

This is one of too many clearance villages, where the people where driven from the land like the sheep that replaced them. You can walk through the ruins, and see glimpses back into what was - an old cooking pot in one room, fallen down walls all around.
I see some people have confused it with Auchendrain, which is a preserved village back on the road to Inverary. You'll get a lot more information there, but here you get the prickling on the back of your neck, that lets you know you're walking with unquiet ghosts.

This was a real let down. Thought might be able to get some things. Went in the cafe. Had a coffee it was the worst I have ever tasted left a nasty taste in my mouth. The prices are ridiculous on the items they sell. It's so d fashioned clothes catered for the over 70s. Keep away if you like to be fashionable.

Atmospheric place where you can let your imagination run free! Hope the people who were evicted from here found a better life wherever they ended up.

Hard place to find even though i know the area well. Look for the forestry comission sign 'Glean a Gealbhan'. The walk starts across the road with a green signpost with a yellow band. Lovely little place with a lovely view. Some of the pictures in previous reviews are misleading as there are no buildings with roofs or furniture. All buildings are ruins.

There is an information board at the top, it is a pleasant site with lovely views and about five house ruins and the barn, not as old as many of the castles etc around Kilmartin Glen but if you like exploring lost villages this is as atmospheric as any. We visited in june and didnt see anyone else. There's quite a walk up which is signed and not too steep or boggy & car parking at the Forestry Commision car park directly across from the access path. Not commercial, no activities, guides or facilities, single track road to access the car park.

This village is about a half hour uphill walk rising about 100 metres along a grass track winding uphill from the forestry car park opposite at Glean a Gealbhan on the B8025. There are a number of houses remaining without roofs to give a good indication of the village as well as an board outlining some of the history of the clearances. There is a longer circular walk available but it is easier to return by same route. Beautiful views from the village to a loch below.

It's quite a climb to this site and you just have to tuck your car as tight to the verge as you can as there's no car park
But my it's worth it
The site has some ruined cottages sheep pens etc and is hugely evocative - a once thriving community/culture destroyed due to landlords greed - sheep are more profitable than poor people who cant pay high rents
It's silent now and a sad place but v beautiful and there's a lovely view down to a far off sea
Tho hard to find this is c worth visiting and you'll enjoy reading more in books giving a history of the site/area
