We appreciated that Andrew met me and my travelling companion, Pat, at the train and transferred us and our luggage to the wonderful Ben Cruachan Inn, Lochawe.
We spent the next four full days following an itinerary that I suggested and Andrew refined. With a gentle, knowledgeable and interesting manner we enjoyed the Inverary Highland Games, Inverary Castle tour, a walk to Kilchurn Castle, wonderful scenic drives which included a stop at the battlefield of Glen Fruin after which in 1603 the clan Gregor’s name was proscribed, Rob Roy’s gravesite, Glen Orchy Parish and St. Conan’s church over the first two days. We followed this with a day’s drive over the Connel bridge, taking the ferry at Corran, circling this peninsula and stopping later at Glenfinnan and Fort William, then through Glen Garry, Glen Shiel and stopping at Eilean Donan. The last day we drove up and over the Bealach na Ba pass which was awe inspiring from Lochcarron to Applecross, returning again through this old cattle pass and driving through Fort Augustus to Glencoe, Tyndrum and into our final stop with Andrew at Oban.
These drives through the Highlands were stunningly beautiful. Andrew is such a competent driver that even through the pass, I felt unusually comfortable.
Our four days is a treasured memory. Many thanks to Andrew for his expertise, easy going nature and very good tour guiding. We also loved his highland kit.

Andrew led us on a 9-day tour through the Scottish Lowlands and Highlands, from Edinburgh to Skye. He was an absolute gentlemen, very warm, always willing to answer questions, and was a very safe driver. He helped make our tour spectacular. We highly recommend him as a tour guide.
Our trip was an “Outlander” tour, but we learned so
much about Scottish history, politics, traditional life, food, and culture. It was very well rounded and will satisfy everyone’s tastes.

Is it possible to meet and travel in close company with a stranger for twelve days and at the end of that period of time be able still to maintain cordiality? When traveling with Lord Andrew Gray the answer MUST be resounding in the affirmative!
Ours was an extended personal, private, and tailored tour within the Scottish Highlands specific to our interests, and we have Andrew's diligent devotion to our satisfaction to credit for the experience of such a rewarding and enjoyable first visit to the Highlands.
From our very first day traveling with Andrew in his Mercedes touring vehicle to the last day of delivery to the airport, Andrew's conduct can only be described as most gentlemanly, thoughtful, and accommodating. Though always maintaining a professional bearing and deportment, a sincere friendliness and warmth emanated during our shared meals, our relaxed conversation, and shared sense of humor. Andrew could easily have been a professor, an historian, or educator as his depth of knowledge of Scottish history and The Highlands is broad and expansive and, importantly, delivered by Andrew in the most amicable manner.
We appreciated so very much Andrew's patience and willingness to communicate through a series of e-mails to iron out an itinerary, not only specific to our wishes, but incorporating knowledgeable suggestions by Andrew as well - - all accomplished weeks before our arrival in Edinburgh.
As this trip was our first trip to The Highlands, Andrew provided suggestions for lodging and restaurant facilities. His recommendations were splendid, indeed. Andrew's intuitions for our needs and requirements were invaluable to our experience.
It was very important to our days to include visits and explorations of locations particular to our family/clan affiliations, sites of military and historical significance, and exposure to the culture beyond and apart from that presented for the consumption of tourists. Andrew fulfilled all our requests and introduced us to many features of the landscape and culture that we never would have discovered on our own.
On day one we met as strangers. On day twelve we parted as very good friends.
From The Scottish Highlands we traveled on to Ireland and further to Iceland. Our only wish was that we would have had Andrew with us during those experiences as well!

Andrew provided an excellent day trip from our hotel at the Glasgow Airport to the farm near Oban, where my three times great grandmother was born. My wife was concerned about my driving on the left side of the road, and boy was I glad I was not driving in the Scottish Highlands. Stopped at a delightful pub in Oban for lunch and then went exploring inland to find the farm. Driving around the loop on the farm, I discovered cottages behind the manor house, leading me to investigate new ways to discover my ancestors.

I was delighted to spend the day touring with both of you. It was a fabulous sunny day, which was a bonus. It was equally interesting for me to learn something more about the Farm at Lagganmore and indeed the Battle on ground nearby. I will be following up on researching this!
Best wishes to you both.

Having been on holiday to Scotland many years ago as a child, I thought we would take a chance with the children on a three-day visit to the West Highlands. We took the train up from the south and Andrew was there to meet us at Glasgow. His manner was relaxed and easy -going from the outset and in no time we were enjoying the stunning scenery
in the company of a knowledgeable and entertaining guide. Andrew took time to take special note of our requirements before recommending a guest house in Oban, which was ideal for us and Jemima, our irrepressible dalmatian. We had a great three days. Andrew stopped at nothing to help us plan our itinerary, taking us on trips to some popular sites like Inveraray Castle and St Conans Kirk but also showing us some out-of-the-way routes on beautiful back roads. These included the wonderfully picturesque Glen Lonan - with great views down Loch Etive and the mountains in the distance - to name just one of several highlights.
It was Andrew's experience as a guide that insured that we saw these wonderful sights which we otherwise definitely would have missed. It was such a joy to have our holiday planned and implemented by such an organised, charming, well-informed and patient guide, especially when it came to Jemima disgracing herself on the Tailored Tours lawn. Andrew's know-how and can-do attitude really made it into a holiday with a difference for us and I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone.

Andrew picked us up in the morning at our hotel in Edinburgh and took us to our bucket-list destination of St. Andrews, stopping along the way at different charming and historical spots. Andrew is a weath of knowledge on all of Scotland, past and present, We learned so much from him - we didn’t want the day to end. My husband and I highly recommend Andrew!

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review. Tripadvisor really does have possibilities - even though the last review submitted to my page wasn't in fact for me ??
It was a real pleasure to have to the day's touring with you both. We had the weather on our side, which is a bonus as places like the little harbour at Crail certainly look their best. I always enjoy wandering in St. Andrews. If you make another trip to Scotland in the future, you'll need to come over here to my part of the world on the beautiful, rugged West Coast. The Isle of Skye beckons !
All the best
Andrew

Dear Madam
Thank you for the review that has ended up on my tripadvisor feed. To be honest, I'm not the best / most up to date with how the whole thing works but suffice to say if you were on a trip with Keith then it wasn't my tour or me !?!
Do you know what Keith's tour company is actually called ? I chose 'Tailored Tours of Scotland' about 12 years or so ago when I started out but I didn't really search the lists of tour companies to check if there were others with a similar name ! If you (google) search for "Tailored Tours (with or without Scotland) you do of course get a whole long list of possibilities. Under tripadvisor listings, I seem to be 'Tailored Tours of Scotland - Day Tours'. Via the Scottish tourist office / Visitscotland, I think I managed to refine it to 'Tailored Tours of Scotland with Lord Gray'.
At any rate, I'm glad to hear that you had a good tour. If you get a moment you could let me know when you find Keith's tour company and are able to post your review for them !
Kind regards
Andrew
Lord Gray.

Andrew couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. We loved our time with him exploring Argyll and he was incredibly knowledgable and interesting.
A rare mix of a tour that is both professional and grounded in local knowledge (Andrew is a lifelong Argyll resident). Highly recommend.

We were in Oban for only one day as a cruise day in port. We were interested in seeing the Cruachan Power Station (why not visit a power station when you are are in the West Highlands??). We no public transport the Power Station folks suggestion Lord Gray. I am so glad they did. We spent 10 hours with Andrew. and it was a highlight of our cruise. We had emailed prior to our arrival so he had a tentative itinerary in mind built around our power station tour but of course was very agreeable about making changes as we went. He met us as planned at their pier. We feel not only did we get a good overview of the area. Scenery, a stop at a great tea shop for scones, sports of historic significance, neolithic monuments, and many off the beaten path sights. We also visited Inverary Castle and as Lord Gray knows the Duke of Argyll he was able to explain about the house, the portraits and other items in the house. We have been to many castles and weren't quite sure about spending time doing another one, but this tour gave us real insights into the castle. Andrew is very agreeable, easy-going and knowledgeable. The 10 hours flew by and we felt it was the best shore excursion of our cruise. We highly recommend his services.

Hello could you tell me more about these tours please, and can I ask if your tours are suitable for those who have difficulty walking far?
Written 31 August 2016
Hello. My account seems to be have been on the blink. Apologies for missing your question.
My tours cover the whole of Scotland. I am an experienced driver-guide and specialise in places throughout Argyll; the region on the West Coast area. Lots of fantastic scenery etc, castles, ruined & lived in to visit, traditional smokehouses, beautiful gardens, distilleries etc.
There is plenty that can be seen / visited / walked around gently without any need for dealing with arduous or rough terrain.
Any more queries - let me know. Sorry for not replying till now !
