About
With 30 years experience working as a Ranger, 15 or which were on the Berwickshire Coast, there is no one better placed to tell you all you need to know about the wildlife of the Berwickshire Coast both above and below the waves. I have teamed up with local skipper, Billy, who has 40+ year's experience, to run my Wildlife Cruises. His boat is perfect for the job: plenty of deck space means you always get a good view; seating for all; even a marine toilet.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

What an excellent cruise to St Abbs Head led by Liza, a very knowledgeable, fun and enthusiastic guide. Liza could be heard easily by using a microphone. The boat was large enough not to feel sea sick (I'm not a good sailor!) and had an on-board toilet. The skipper was very obliging, turning the boat round for us to look at certain birds. We got very close views of birds on the sea, flying around us and sitting on nests on the cliffs. Liza gave us a lot of information, not only about the birds, but also about the towns and villages which we sailed past. She comprehensively answered all our questions. I would recommend this cruise as it's a very different experience seeing all the birds from the sea rather than from the cliff tops on a walk (although the walking tours on the cliff tops (which Liza leads) are well worth doing for a different perspective).

Thanks for such a comprehensive review - I'm sure future cruisers will find it really helpful. Yes, the good ship Oceanic rides the sea very nicely doesn't she, helped by great handling by the skipper of course!

Liza kept a group of varying ages from young children to seniors engrossed on our sea trip around St Abbs Head. She is very knowledgeable but also knows how to engage with people and put over information in an entertaining way. Her little PA system was ideal so we could hear easily over the boat noise and the skipper gave us close up views of the cliffs covered in nesting birds. The charming seal was a bonus!
The boat deck is spacious enough for comfortable social distancing and there is a loo!
Parking is very easy ( unlike some other ports) and the boat is wheelchair accessible.
Strongly recommended.

This was a fantastic way to see the beautiful coastline to hear about the nature with some interesting local
History thrown in. Lisa’s commentary was superb and she is extremely knowledgeable about the wildlife and great at spotting things that many would otherwise miss.
We were lucky and saw an array of birds with the highlights being a Guillemot chick that had just jumped the nest called a “jumping” and a coupe of harbour porpoises.
I would highly recommend a trip with this company. I have been on a few other tours and think I know a reasonable amount about bird life but I learned loads on this trip.

Wow! That's praise indeed! I'm so glad you enjoyed the cruise. And weren't we lucky with the weather too?! Liza.

I would love to do a tour with Liza in person but due to restrictions zoom was the best option.
Liza has incredible knowledge of all things coastal; plants, geology, birds, mammals - she was able to give detailed information and answer any question. She also presents the information in a captivating way, it’s not just a list of statistics, (I particularly like the impressions). My 15 year old daughter was also watching and enjoyed the presentations too. It’s clearly a life long passion of Liza’s and I hope to attend a tour on location one day soon.

I went on the boat trip to St Abbs. The first one was cancelled due to the sea conditions but we were given good notice of spaces in the next few days and were rewarded with beautiful weather. The skipper put us in a good position to see the gannets and we even had a glimpse of dolphins.
Liza is very knowlegable and enthusiastic.
Very good covid precautions.

We were blessed with good weather for the teatime trip to St. Abbs, the conditions were ideal. A seal followed us out of the harbour and we saw a porpoise diving (we knew it was a porpoise and not a dolphin because Liza explained how to spot the difference).
Derek the skipper was welcoming and friendly and was great at pointing out things if we were all looking the other way (like the guillemot jumpling that suddenly appeared).
Liza is an absolutely brilliant guide. Her love of nature and enthusiasm for her job is wonderful and her knowledge is incredible. She kept us informed and entertained throughout the trip, I learned so much about the wildlife, the area and the geology.
I highly recommend the trip, it is great value for money and I will most definitely return.

This trip easily exceeded our expectations. Liza was extremely knowledgeable and explained in great detail everything we were seeing. The views of the Cliffs and the Seabirds was breathtaking.
We were also very fortunate that it was a lovely sunny evening

Thank you Liza for an excellent boat trip around St Abbs Head. The bird life was spectacular covering the rocks so much to look at, never seen anything like it. You were so knowledgeable and friendly. The family all really enjoyed it! Easy to book online.

A must during the seabird breeding season.

Amazing boat trip from Eyemouth harbour to the cliffs at St Abbs Head guided by the knowledgeable, witty, friendly Lisa Coles who was previously warden at the National Trust Reserve there. Informative both about local history and the local wildlife. Skipper Derek was responsive and careful when we were joined by a playful group of dolphins.

A never to be forgotten trip.

The cruse to St Abbs Head was fabulous. Liza is so knowledgable and passionate about wildlife and the birds around the East Coast area and is a natural communicator with a great sense of humour. This is my second trip and it was a beautiful evening. The skipper of the boat takes you close enough to the cliffs where the birds are nestled in order to get some wonderful photographs. I will definitely return for a third trip.
