About
I have over 30 years experience working as a Ranger, & there is nothing I like more than sharing my passion for and knowledge of wildlife. I have teamed up with local skipper, Derek, who has 40+ year's experience, to run the Wildlife Cruises. His boat, Oceanic, is perfect for the job: plenty of deck space means you get a good view; seating for all; a covered area to get out of the weather; & she has twin hulls which makes her a very steady platform from which to view the wildlife through optics.

Such a treat to be on a shoreline cruise with such a knowledgeable and experienced guide. Liza knows her stuff and we spotted and learnt so much. The two cruises I did were enhanced by combining it with a local geological expert coming along, so we also learnt about the history of how this coastline was formed. We saw some amazing rock formations that you wouldn't see if you kept your feet on dry land. Terrific idea to combine the two. Fantastic trip. Oh, and thanks to the skipper of the boat. We had a very comfortable ride.

Thank you! It was great to meet you in the flesh, so to speak, and have you join us for our Wildlife and Geology Cruises north and south. Its a cracking bit of coastline with so many stories to be told about it isn't it!

I discovered In Our Nature from our accommodation’s Facebook who had shared the cruises on their page.

I had looked and 8 places were available. Then on the day, 2 places were left so we booked. The information from the email was very clear and at 1.40pm, we met Liza.

Liza was warm and friendly and made you feel at home. She knows the area very well having worked there a long time. She gave us good safety briefings and allowed questions. People who felt it wasn’t for them, were offered a full refund.

Liza carefully helped everyone down the ladder onto the boat. She offered telescopes to people to look closer.

Liza is very passionate about the wildlife and has great knowledge. It was very interesting. At one point we hit a rain cloud in which we got very wet. But it didn’t stop us enjoying the cruise and the info. The cruise up was slow to allow us to see everything, with a faster journey back. We saw lots of birds and some were lucky to see a porpoise.

It is worth watching for the cruises and to try and go. I’d love to try a sunset cruise.

Thank you so much for you thorough review. It was great to meet you and introduce you to the fabulous Berwickshire Coast and its wildlife. It was some rainstorm hey, but, as you say, it was brief - thank goodness!

Fantastic trip to Siccar Point today
What a great day. Both Liza and Alison were so knowledgable and interesting in their fields. Liza on coastal wildlife and Alison on the geology of the coastal landscape. There were so many highlights on the trip. Getting close the Siccar Point which is the most important geological site in the world! I look forward to reading more information from the 3 leaflets also provided. The age of the various rocks and landscape from Eyemouth to Siccar Point and beyond is mind blowing!😊 Seeing the plunge diving gannets, kittewake and a variety of gulls as well as the puffin on the water were just some of the birds we saw on the trip. Heading back to the harbour and seeing two large grey seals so close to the boat was an added bonus. A great trip and highly recommended

Thanks so much for the review. I'm so glad you enjoyed the trip - as you say, the timescales involved in the forming of the Berwickshire Coast are mind-blowing aren't they? I love running the Wildlife and Geology trips with Alison - she's' so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and as everything is connected in nature, the geology underpins all the wildlife and scenery we enjoy on these trips too!

Wonderful cruise from Eyemouth to Siccar Point (world famous geological site). Two experts on board, a geologist and a naturalist who made the trip so interesting and enjoyable.

We had a wonderful Sunset Cruise last evening with In Our Nature, along the coast from Eyemouth to Fast Castle. It's so different seeing seabirds up close from the sea rather than the cliffs and to see the guillemot jumplings and increasing numbers of nesting gannets.
Liza is a great guide, knowledgeable about the geology of this significant area and the local history as well as the seabirds and their habitats. We really recommend In Our Nature.

Wonderful evening cruise from Eyemouth past St Abbs Head to Fast Castle. Ok so we didn’t see any dolphins or minke whales but it was more than made up for by the amazing bird life. Guillemots and jumplings, razorbills, kittiwakes, gannets, cormorants, shags, fulmars, a shearwater and a pair of peregrines on their nest. Plus the incredible geology and history of the coastline. Everything comprehensively explained by Liza. Can’t recommend this trip highly enough. And thanks also to Billy for his excellent boat handling plus cups of tea!

It was great to have you join us aboard Wavedancer - wasn't it a lovely evening! You got some fabulous shots, thanks for sharing! Those pesky whales and dolphins are a bit elusive aren't they - but that's partly what makes it so great when we do see them!

Amazing! Friendly and fun, extremely knowledgeable guide. Liza gave us history of the harbour and surrounds.

On the tour we saw Kittiwakes, Razorbills and Guillemots some Porpoises and a Puffin! Liza was great at directing us to the cliffs so we could understand nesting and life cycles. We saw a jumpling floating and as a gull's snack, nature in action.

Liza also explained the geology of the rock formation.

Such a joy to be so close to nature and in such good hands!
Thank you Liza
