Pity that Trip Advisor only lists this under the heading of 'Things to Do', rather tan 'Self-catering Accommodation', because this is undoubtedly the very best place to stay in Eyemouth. The Merchant's House offers the top two floors of the building, with the large public...More

This is a great little museum to visit but it doesn't take too much time to get round. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I wouldn't bother with the kids activity book, at £3 a go it really isn't worth it. Our children enjoyed the...More

Architectural masterpiece overlooking Eyemouth harbour with interesting and shady past explained through the displays and artefacts, and fun stuff for kids - secret tunnels, tea chute, dressing up, quiz. Well worth a visit

We visited this museum on a rainy day with 3 children ages 6 to 8 and 5 adults ranging from 38-72. We all loved it! The staff and exhibits are so engaging for young children as they have really gone out of their way to...More

Massive grand house owned by a lucrative smuggler, original items on display and lots of information to view, read and touch (kids will be delighted).

Pleasantly surprised at how good this was. The house has been extensively restored and looks fantastic from the outside. Lots of history and information inside and we learned so much about smuggling. Some great interactive parts for children and our 7 year old thoroughly enjoyed...More

Popped in earlier this month when on holiday, was surprised at how much history it holds in regards to tea smuggling. The house is beautiful and it was interesting to see the bits stripped back over the ages.

Would be better with more rooms open and more Information on the smugglers.... was on way to pass 45 mins . Although being followed into every room and having our personal space invaded by one of the attendants put me off slightly .

I absolutely loved this museum. The drawings are amazing, very attractive to children as well to adults. The building itself is very well preserved. It provides a lot of information about the house former owner, as well as the town's history and smugglers.
