This museum was #1 on my list of places to see in Memphis, and it did not disappoint. I could have easily spent more time here but I didnt want to keep my wife waiting any longer. A must see for lovers of history and soul music.

Listening to the history of the studio and seeing the pieces of history really give you a feeling for the time and emotional stage of the era. Highly recommend for anyone interested in music and/or the history of Memphis.

This is a great museum. Stax records was similar to Motown. It starts out with gospel and then goes into blues. Arethea Franklin lived near this studio. They have Isaac Hayes Cadillac and Oscar. Well worth the stop

Any time I go to a museum with teenagers, I am the last to finish up, this was no exception. Unfortunately some really cool things were at the end; which means I had to rush through that part to meet my family who was waiting a little impatiently for me. If you are interested in music, civil rights, southern history... More

I checked with a few locals and they recommended Staci museum over the rock n soul museum. Great place and lots to learn about the origins of soul music. The video at the start of the tour is also great.

My wife who love music wanted to go, I just tagged along. But I was pleasantly surprised. Even though not a music lover I absolutely loved this museum. The history, displays, and staff makes this a wonderful hidden gem.

Another must see in your Memphis tour. Something that struck me. As much as things have changed in the music industry they have stayed the same. Very inspirational to see there is a music school is on the premise and that is heart warming among the worn down projects.

Great museum. Four teenagers in our group loved it as much as the adults. We started our morning here before going to BBQ Central for lunch and then to the National Civil Rights Museum. We spent about 90 minutes at the Stax. Every minute of it so worthy!
