Completed in 1290, this is a fine example of a concentric circle, with outer walls serving as a line of defense around a series of inner walls and the main living quarters.

Staff were friendly and informative; the Centre is very well done, with a good film show (which even held the attention of our very very active 7 & 9 yo boys). Good online/app with dragon finding competition and paper based trail finding. The Castle itself...More

This castle is worth a visit but we felt was fairly expensive for what was on offer. There is a short video in the visitor centre but limited information in the castle itself. We visited on a rainy day so maybe that had something to...More

What a lovely change to be able to wonder freely amongst some really well preserved castle ruins. You could go up the towers wonder along the walls. It was really good and could easily spend a good couple of hours exploring. We went on a...More

Harlech Castle could perhaps do with a little more information while you’re walking around, but other than that, the castle is beautiful and the views are gorgeous.

Harlech train station is very close to the castle but you do have to walk up a very steep hill! Shouldn't take longer than 10-15 minutes and you can get a delicious ice cream at the top :)
