- Tom BChesterfield, United Kingdom979 contributionsBrilliant beach, if a little different.Harlech beach is great, parking nearby well signed and good surfaced path most of the way through the dunes but not too long a walk. The beach is big plenty of space for everyone and great views. It was not the place for a picnic as squall came in generating a sandstorm but don't be put off as it usually really is excellent.Visited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 31 March 2024
- Paul FHarrogate, United Kingdom63 contributionsWonderful settingThis is a stunning beach. Easy access from local campsites and car park. We ran a 6k circuit on the beach into Harlech most days and it was wonderful. It is huge when the tide is out too and great to watch sunsets tooVisited March 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 April 2024
- Nicky B19 contributionsLovely for dog walking!Very picturesque views, fantastic for pictures! Absolutely perfect for dog walking; lots of space to keep away from other people (our dog is reactive) and lots of room for chasing a ball. Very very windy so wrap up warm! Definitely wear walking shoes; sand dunes are uneven in some places. Massive car park 2 minutes walk away, but would not accept cash payments, only payment via phone.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 April 2024
- Nigel_Alsager UKAlsager, United Kingdom274 contributionsStunning BeachThis is an astonishing beach. Very easy to park and a bit of a walk through the sandunes and golf course. The beach is dog friendly. I’ve scored it a four as there are, in my opinion, just not enough waste bins for dog mess. There are obviously irresponsible owners who feel it’s ok not to clear up . I’m not one of them but ended up with poo bags tied on the rucksack for over three hours . This does not detract from the beauty of the placeVisited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 May 2024
- vics40Bristol, United Kingdom422 contributionsStunning!!!!Stunning beach, very clean, beautiful views & vast! Sand dunes are great fun, & the sea is clear, A must visit if in the area. Parking is pay & display, and to get to the beach it is a 5 minute walk.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 June 2024
- travelbaggiesDudley, United Kingdom424 contributionsStunningHas been visiting Harlech beach for decades. Quite simply, it is beautiful. Clear and clean, it is possible to walk for hours on this wonderful stretch of sand. The dunes, the stunning Harlech Castle and the mountains. The backdrop is second to none. There is also the interesting wreck of a downed plane in the sands, although it is mainly not visible. An absolutely gorgeous place.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 July 2024
- Claire L5 contributionsLovely beachThe beach is split - left are for people with dogs and right no dogs. The beach is lovely and flat and CLEAN. It is a trek from the carpark through the dunes , so a trolley would be best. It's well worth a visit. No lifeguards so be careful, and maybe take something to identify you to your family members, eg a high flying flag or a bright coloured wind break or tents lots of people have these. The shop keepers are so friendly and the cafes are nice too. If you have time, visit the castle.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 13 September 2024

We went on a sunny day to Harlech beach having gone to the castle late in the morning. We had a lovely time lounging on the beach, playing games and swimming in the sea. We expected there to be a cafe or some facilities but there were none apart from a premier down the road about 10-15 mins walk, this meant we got abit hungry. Highly recommend walking down to avoid the crowds and taking an umbrella for shade. Took the dog and she loved it.

Although the weather was not great - we had a couple of hours break and decided to walk down to the beach.
Nice walk by the golf course and across the sand dunes
The beach was massive and seemed to go on for ever.
Excellent to walk on and no rubbish to be seen
For kids, dog walkers or just anyone wishing a pleasant couple of hours would definitely recommend

Lovely long sandy beach, very clean. Often has good waves for body boarding. Has a pay and display car park with basic toilets and then a tarmac path up to the sand dunes, the last part of the path is sand over the dunes so can be tricky with pushchairs/wheelchairs.

lovely beach but expensive car park and the toilets are dirty, and often no hot water or hand washing facilities. After complaining to council I was told lack of staff was problem and also overnight motorhomes parking in carpark caused lack of toilet paper etc........ How can it be fair to charge carpark prices without updating the toilets to the standard of those located about a mile further away.

Beautiful sandy beach located on the Morfa Harlech National Nature Reserve is just a short walk from the car park through Royal St. Davids Golf Club to the beautiful wide open beach.
This beach is dog friendly all year round, with clear flags indicating which areas are for dogs and which are not.
We went on a blowy day so the wind breaker was needed but the wind and the sea despite being a little choppy were both warm.
Regrettably due to the bird flu (avian influenza) pandemic, we saw 4 dead birds on the beach, they were mostly covered in sand and nearer the water however our dog was very curious.
After a blustery few hours on the beach we drove up to Harlech Castle and had lunch in Harlech Castle Cafe, during lunch the castle had organised an traditional entertainer, which both the children enjoyed watching and participating, see review.
Hope this review was helpful if your looking for a dog friendly beach

My first visit to Harlech but definitely not my last. The beach is exactly how a beach should be! Miles and miles of sand and dunes and a perfect place for a walk to admire the great views. It was October when we visited but we had a perfect weather day with full sun so had to ditch the coats it was so hot! If you’re visiting with children they’d love it as you could actually build a proper sandcastle and have a great family day out. A must visit if in the area.

We visited during our week long stay in Wales. What a beautiful beach! One side is dog friendly, the other is strictly no dogs. Car park is fairly priced compered to some other beaches and not too far of a walk from the sea front (approximately 3 minutes). We went as the tide was going out and it appeared that there were many tiny crabs and jellyfish on the beach so best to watch your step. The only thing that could be improved is access to bins. Not necessarily on the beach itself but bins in the carpark at least would be a good option. Definitely worth a visit

If you happen to be in the Snowdonia National Park, make sure you visit Harlech Beach no matter the time of year.
Clear blue waves crash into the golden sand as other revellers enjoy walking up and down the long stretch of beach. The view of the fells across the bay is stunning - and the colours, even in gloomy February - are beautifully contrasting.
On your way back to your car, make sure you pick up some of the deposited rubbish the sea has dropped off.

Long sandy beach, loads of room great for a family day at the beach. There are car parks dotted along this coast giving easy access to the beach. Car parks are pay and display, with card option via an app

This is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen and I absolutely love it here. It's about a 5 minute walk from the car park, which handily has some toilets (standard beach loos, don't expect luxury, but they work!) Walk through the sand dunes and as you get to the top of the last one you catch sight of the gorgeous deep blue sea. We went on a hot day (got there early, about 10 am) but even when we left at lunchtime it wasn't heaving, which was great for us. The sea was very calm and due to the way the beach slopes, it's possible to wade out quite a way without getting out of your depth, also due to the recent hot weather it was warm enough to stay in for ages.
If you want a beach with trashy arcades and shops selling tat, this isn't for you, but if you love a stunningly beautiful spot with great sand and swimming it certainly is.
Finally, you probably will see jellyfish! Most don't sting too badly, unless you have very sensitive skin, it wouldn't hurt to research treatments, and types that you see, before you go.

Hi.
Would you say this a safe swimming beach?
Visiting in a few weeks?
Thanks.

Not sure to be honest. There were people in the sea when we were there. You will enjoy it if you have good weather.
