Gorgeous local produce cooked to perfection!
Dec 2020 • Couples
What a fantastic restaurant for delightful local produce! We called in here and discovered a lovely venue with super friendly staff serving well cooked local produce to deliver a stunning hearty breakfast. Our young waiter was obviously new to his role but he delivered an excellent friendly service and was so helpful and attentive throughout our visit. The rest of the centre was full of well priced and different items for sale.

Couldn't be Happier
Nov 2020
This was the first time that I have eaten out since covid started. I have so many food allergies it's difficult for me to eat anywhere and I can get a little stressed when I'm trusting others to feed me. Thankyou for making me feel welcome and and safe. I really enjoyed my meal with my wife and parents and I am looking forward to coming back. You tried very hard to to put a meal together for me and where very accommodating. All of your staff were cheerful , efficient and covid safe. My wife and parents, who are much easier to cater for, had a lovely time too. I would recommend The Edenshire Restaurant in a heartbeat. I can see you have put in a great deal of thought and really care about your customers.

The best breakfast!
Nov 2020 • Couples
We purchased a gorgeous hamper from Afonwen Craft & Antique Centre so while we were there collecting it we stopped for breakfast. YUM! Gorgeous food, great coffee and really lovely atmosphere. We bought a few bits from the gift shop too. Really worth a visit! We will most definitely be going back 😋

Shopping & Dining
Sep 2020 • Couples
The Edenshire restaurant is a great place to eat. Situated in an old railway station building which lends itself to a pleasant atmosphere for dining. Staff are very friendly and go above and beyond in these Covid restricted times. Food is excellent. Great choice of main meals plus light bites. Cannot recommend this place highly enough. My only regret is that from today we can no longer visit due to unnecessary restrictions from Welsh government. Shame really, to damage such a thriving business. Hopefully see you again in the not to distant future.

A great way to while away a rainy hour

Fabulous food, all very fresh and tasty. Interesting antiques and a good gift shop. Handmade jewellery created on site. Social distancing measures have been put in and all staff have clear masks on, great help to lip readers

Home cooked food to fill your belly
Sep 2020 • Friends
Proper home cooked Sunday lunch. Great food and locally sourced. Service a little slow, but probably due to the higher standards of cleaning due to covid. Highly recommend for trip out. You can wander/but antiques after filling your belly

Thank you for visiting us and taking the time to write a review. Its great to hear how you enjoyed yourselves and the food was great. As you mentioned our Covid cleaning routines are taking a bit more time up and I can only apologise if the service was a little slow. We are doing our best to keep you safe and changing to the rules as they are kicking in. Hope to see you again soon. Kind regards Janet, Adrian and all the team

A worthwhile detour
Aug 2020
Curiosity lead us to follow the signs with intentions of a light lunch.

Despite no booking we were seated straight away. We ordered and soon our food arrived. My beef and ale pie was top notch and amongst best ever. The welsh lamb chops were as expected true Welsh taste and tender. A most enjoyable experience. Glad we did the detour from the A55 end route to family in Colwyn Bay.

Asked to pay mid-meal
Aug 2020 • Family
Prior to lockdown we loved coming to Afonwen. Our experience in this occasion was very different.
We came on the off chance that there may be table availability and we were pleased we could be accommodated in the outside area and we appreciated a chair being brought out for my infirm Dad.
We noticed that the prices were not quite as reasonable as previous visits e.g £8 for a prawn sandwich. We made our order and then were informed that several items were out of stock, including baked potatoes.
We had a long wait for our food, but we didn’t mind as we know that the food is freshly prepared to order. When the food came we were a little disappointed. For example, my burger and chips was smaller than the kids’ meals. For £10 it was quite disappointing, especially as it was just a burger and salad (no cheese etc). The burger bun also had butter on, which was really odd. The butter hadn’t melted either as the burger was only lukewarm. The sandwiches weren’t anything special but okay.
The bit that really did annoy me though was that the bill was brought just after we started eating our meal. I was then asked to pay whilst my lukewarm burger sat getting colder and everyone else ate. We were just about to order more drinks as the ones we got when we got there had long gone due to the wait and we probably would’ve had dessert too but bringing the bill meant we couldn’t. We weren’t asked if we wanted anything else before the bill was brought. I felt this was extremely poor customer service. Either ask customers to pay at point of order, or at the end - not halfway through a meal!
I would’ve complained but my elderly Dad suffers from dementia and gets very anxious and agitated, so I couldn’t whist he was present.

Good Afternoon Browsing Antiques
Aug 2020
This was our first visit to Afonwen, we’d often seen the directional sign whilst travelling on A55, but decided to investigate today.
Afonwen is situated on a small river and is a series of rooms offering retro and antiques for sale as well as the usual cards, scarves, novelty items etc.
There was a one way system (most people completely ignored it!) and plenty of hand sanitiser.
We enjoyed our visit, it was a very pretty setting.

looks good, however Antiques are a minority here.
Feb 2020
My first visit, as a collector i go many places to buy.
Overall i found that the very high prices on offer here dosen't reflect the object for sale.
Very large quantity of silver plate! On sale at silver prices, a small amount of silver for sale at gold prices etc, with very imaganitive descriptions vintage retro quality?
Any enquiries you make are met with silence from staff and the dealer isn't available?
No pictures just prints, lots of bric a brac, the usual pottery found any where, the odd stick of furniture but nothing to tempt you. Quite disappointed really.
However you apparently can get something nice to eat! which is why i visit Antique emporiums.
