- phil z32 contributionsGreat findA really great place for antiques and gifts. The variety of antiques was very good with an excellent selection of quality real antiques from jewellery to furniture. The gift shop had a wonderful selection of gifts including tasty treats and local jams and Chutney. The small restaurant served delicious food, we had a Welsh breakfast that was very filling. A really enjoyable place to visit.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 25 November 2023
- Tedster_13Flintshire, United Kingdom5 contributionsLovely place! Worth a visit 😄We’re staying at Herons Lake Retreat. Went walking with the family & dogs and stopped here, initially for a drink. We discovered the amazing choice of cakes, so bought some to take back to our lodge. They boxed our cakes up and added fresh fruit and chocolate coins. AMAZING! Staff so welcoming and friendly. We will be back. Thanks for your kindness xVisited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 August 2024
- lovetotravel01458 contributionsLittle gem of a placeWe had a an amazing time here. Although it's not massive we spent ages checking out all the antiques cabinets, everything was very well laid out and well lit. We bought a few items then had a lovely home made cake in the cafe where the staff were very friendly. If you are used to buying at antiques fairs just be aware that here they are not comfortable with haggling here, the price is pretty much the price. We will be back!Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 11 August 2024

- 92nixondBury, United Kingdom47 contributionsIdeal rainy day browse! We were looking for something to do on a rainy day whilst we were on holiday in the Prestatyn area and my wife found this place online. It's in a lovely area and is a beautiful place! If you like browsing antiques then this is the place for you. An Aladdin's cave of lots of different trinkets, furniture and paintings. They also have a beautiful gift shop for you to browse in once you're done looking at antiques, and there's also a small lovely restaurant where you can grab a drink or a bite to eat. The restaurant was very popular and had a lot of tables reserved so it might be worth pre-booking to avoid disappointment. We managed to sneak in for a quick drink before our table was taken.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 27 September 2024

Prior to lockdown we loved coming to Afonwen. Our experience in this occasion was very different.
We came on the off chance that there may be table availability and we were pleased we could be accommodated in the outside area and we appreciated a chair being brought out for my infirm Dad.
We noticed that the prices were not quite as reasonable as previous visits e.g £8 for a prawn sandwich. We made our order and then were informed that several items were out of stock, including baked potatoes.
We had a long wait for our food, but we didn’t mind as we know that the food is freshly prepared to order. When the food came we were a little disappointed. For example, my burger and chips was smaller than the kids’ meals. For £10 it was quite disappointing, especially as it was just a burger and salad (no cheese etc). The burger bun also had butter on, which was really odd. The butter hadn’t melted either as the burger was only lukewarm. The sandwiches weren’t anything special but okay.
The bit that really did annoy me though was that the bill was brought just after we started eating our meal. I was then asked to pay whilst my lukewarm burger sat getting colder and everyone else ate. We were just about to order more drinks as the ones we got when we got there had long gone due to the wait and we probably would’ve had dessert too but bringing the bill meant we couldn’t. We weren’t asked if we wanted anything else before the bill was brought. I felt this was extremely poor customer service. Either ask customers to pay at point of order, or at the end - not halfway through a meal!
I would’ve complained but my elderly Dad suffers from dementia and gets very anxious and agitated, so I couldn’t whist he was present.

My first visit, as a collector i go many places to buy.
Overall i found that the very high prices on offer here dosen't reflect the object for sale.
Very large quantity of silver plate! On sale at silver prices, a small amount of silver for sale at gold prices etc, with very imaganitive descriptions vintage retro quality?
Any enquiries you make are met with silence from staff and the dealer isn't available?
No pictures just prints, lots of bric a brac, the usual pottery found any where, the odd stick of furniture but nothing to tempt you. Quite disappointed really.
However you apparently can get something nice to eat! which is why i visit Antique emporiums.

Had a lovely meal here and having just moved into the area could not fault the service and food. Must say that the cheese and onion cheche is scrumptious.
I also witnessed very professional and polite young man dealing with a customer who had to wait a little while! He was a credit to the restaurant.
Well worth a visit

We travelled an hour to get here and couldn’t help but be a little underwhelmed. The website boasts one of the largest antique collections in North wales but there didn’t seem to be an awful lot there in our opinion.
I would say that what was there was well presented and clearly priced but we spent probably about 20mins browsing and were done.
The gift shop has some lovely items, we didn’t stay to eat but the restaurant looked inviting, everywhere was very clean (including the toilets) and covid measures were all in place. Most of the staff acknowledged us in a friendly manner.
If we were passing we would pop in again but most likely wouldn’t make a special visit for antique hunting.

Antique shop upstairs, general gift shop with local gifts downstairs. Fabulous restaurant. We tried the Mini menu (small portions, great idea especially for January 🥴😂) £16.95 for our 3 course lunch. Amazing value and amazing food. All home made and locally sourced food. Lots of choices on the menu including vegatarian and allergy and intolerances. Very well organised here. Always great service from uniformed, happy, helpful staff. Everywhere is immaculate including the shopping areas. Also nice local walks.

If you want an absolutely ace breakfast, then this is the place to go.
Bacon was tender and not overcooked. The mushrooms were actually proper mushrooms - fried beautifully. Sausages were chipolatas and very tasty. We asked for eggs to be soft and they were. A lovely great big grilled tomato completed the meal. Toast was also excellent. And......not a baked bean in sight!!!! Coffee was also excellent. Couldn’t find a fault at all.
Staff were attentive and welcoming.
Lovely surroundings and clean.

Haven't been for a couple of years but won't be going back.
Appreciate stallholders have overheads but everything that seemed to be being sold as vintage or antique was overpriced despite nothing being out of the ordinary (fully appreciate that's down to personal choice as to what is 'out of the ordinary').
Some of the home-made produce in the shop was well priced & there was a good choice. Sadly though, the staff were unfriendly & it almost seemed like a chore serving us.
Very few customers there overall which possibly reflects that others have the same view and don't go?
Really disappointing & sadly isn't worth a drive out.

If you've been put off by the small number of negative restaurant reviews, don’t be! The restaurant is a gem! The staff were charming, helpful and friendly. Service was very prompt, both in taking our order and bringing the food. The meal itself was very hot, beautifully cooked and delicious - we both had the pan-fried salmon - and prices are very reasonable. There is a terrific choice of scrumptious desserts, too. This is proper food, and much better than you get in most pubs these days. We can’t recommend Afonwen’s restaurant highly enough. We went on a Tuesday lunchtime, but it was still very busy, understandably so. Best book in advance!

Are you open this mother’s day weekend either Saturday or Sunday?

Hello , I am sorry the centre currently is open but the Restaurant is closed to eat in and we are only selling freshly frozen pies and the limited cakes we now have in the cake cabinet.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes
