Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Very friendly, efficient beach warden/life guard on duty until early Sept. His presence was very obvious and he chatted to visitors. He put up some wonderful, large signs/flags that reminded visitors dogs are not allowed on the beach during the main holiday season. This was gratefully appreciated by those who do not choose to share their space with dogs. Children digging in the sand and paddling in the water should not have to come in contact with dogs.
Saw a family of pilot whales in the bay.

It was a rainy day when we visited but it was still a lovely beach for a walk along. It’s a long beach, with pebbles higher up the beach and sand by the shore line. Some good waves coming in regularly and despite the rain there was a family bodyboarding. Criccieth Castle is nearby and is in view from the beach which is attractive. Overall I would describe the beach as interesting rather than beautiful but it would be good to see the beach in sunshine ☀️ because it is difficult to see the full potential of a beach in the rain.

Criccieth beach is beautiful, its clean and doesn't have cheap toy shops or slot machines. It's a natural flat area with mainly pebbles and rock pools, great to pass a couple of hours wandering along the waterline.
There is plenty of parking available and dogs are allowed on the beach.

We had a quick pit stop to stretch our legs on Criccieth Beach. There were plenty of dog walkers due to them being allowed from October until Spring as well as people having a stroll.
Parking was easy due to the time of year and there are loos set back a bit from the beach.
It’s quite pebbly, dotted with wave-breakers. A good beach for a brisk stroll!

Great beach for rockpooling.
We spent some time on the beach every day looking at shells, rocks and finding creatures. The kids loved it. We also saw some dolphins one day! Definitely worth a visit!

Lovely clean beach, not blessed with golden sands but nice gentle sandy entry in to the sea when not at high tide so feels like safe swimming for kids. Like the fact that during high season the main beach has no dogs and people were respecting the rules. Cafes, chippy, ice cream all within a short walk.

This is a really beautiful area to visit, we visited in the winter, so not much open nearby other than Dylans restaurant. The views are stunning, we walked down the beach from Dylans side towards Black Rock sands and it was a lovely walk along the rocky beach, plenty of big rocks to climb on, we also saw lots of washed up jellyfish which was a highlight for the kids. It was stunning in the winter so I bet the summer is even better! Car park £1.10 an hour, pay and display. Plenty of beachfront parking.

Ive been visiting Criccieth since family holidays way back in the 80s.
I will never get tired of the view, and the cleanliness of the beach and promenade and the friendliness of the people.
A bonus is having well kept, public (free) toilets right on sea front.
For a lone traveller, i never felt threatened or unsafe.

Early am out on the beach. Only a couple of dog walkers for company. Realised I was missing our dog by my side. Lovely space to walk and think. Good morning of shingle and sand. Lovely view of the castle. No doubt busier in summer but wonderfully empty on a cold March day.

Popular beach with dog walkers as we visited in October. There were many people walking along the promenade. The beach at the end we were at was predominantly pebbly. A peaceful setting with picnic tables set back from the beach with public toilets.
Parking along the promenade wall.

Can you hire a subbed and parasol on Criccieth beach?
Written 4 July 2018
I don't believe so as this is not an over commercialised spot!
Written 2 December 2018
Yes, from April you can access the beach from the left of the promenade bit (by Dylans) and keep going left towards Black Rock Sands, no probs.

Can you take dogs on Criccieth Beach?
Written 1 May 2017
Hi Cricceth beach itself is restricted meaning there are only certain times of year dogs are allowed, there are however beaches like Black rock sands just a couple of miles away which are dog friendly all year round

Hi,
Just wondered if there are any benches on the sea front?
Written 13 August 2016
Indeed there are a lot of benches along both Criccieth beaches. The Esplanade (east of Criccieth Castle) offers one every fifty or so feet. There are some on Beach Bank, which are elevated above the road and look out across the bay. There are also covered seats on the greens both east and west of the castle. They look like garden sheds, but they provide rather good shelter on windy days. There are three benches outside the Lifeboat Station. On the west shore aka The Marine and West Parade, there is a bench at the foot of the castle, another couple at the bottom of the hill and one in the middle section of Marine Terrace. Further along there is a green with benches, picnic tables and more covered seats. Try Street View and Google "Esplanade Criccieth" then follow the road. They are quite plainly visible.

Just wondering if there are camp sites nearby suitable for a fairly big motor home and is the beach sandy and suitable for swimming.
Written 25 March 2016
Black Rock beach is just round the promontory and is sandy and ideal for families. Vehicles can go on the beach at low tide at about £5 per day.
There's also a basic camping site there with toilets.
Better for family seaside days than Criccieth which is shingle and smaller.
Only half a mile along the beach to the tea shops etc too!
