Ian has a wonderful way of translating land sea & sky onto canvas.
He seems to capture a moment in time and creates a truly realistic view of the subject matter, thats very natural.........stand back from his work and.... you could be there
His work provides much pleasure and many comments of admiration from friends.
Thank you Ian for making the entire buying process pleasurable and informative
Kind regards
Andy & Sonia

Ian mainly paints landscapes, seascapes and cloudscapes and his work is uplifting and evocative. He really brings out the movement and the energy of his subjects.

After looking at the work of several local artists, I commissioned him to paint a view that has a lot of significance for me. He made several trips to the location to take photos in the best light and conditions and we liaised to agree an approach that brought out what I wanted and would be a composition of which he could feel proud. I picked up the finished painting last week and am absolutely thrilled with the job he's done.

He's also very friendly and generous with his time and I thoroughly enjoyed exchanging personal stories, discussing shared interests and putting the world to right with him! I'll be looking forward to calling in to his studio again next time I'm in North Wales. In the meantime, I'll be enjoying his wonderful painting every time I look up from a book.

Excellent collection of art. Ian was so welcoming and helpful in his explanation of his work. The paintings really bring Angelsey to life in such a colourful fashion. Nothing pretentious, just quality art, we ended up buying 2 paintings to remember a wonderful holiday by.

Beamaris has become a fantastic arts centre with three fantastic galleries immediately next to one another. As soon as I entered Oriel Beaumaris I received a very friendly welcome, was allowed to freely look around and being able to speak directly with Ian Walton the artist himself is wonderful. His seascapes are absolutely beautiful. Ian also offers en plain painting lesson days for a small group which I would be interested in some time. I would certainly recommend visiting. To be honest all three galleries are a real asset to Baemaris making a lovely coastal town even more appealing and attractive for visitors.

Undoubtedly the best experience during my winter stay in North Wales was meeting the extraordinarily talented artist and humanist Ian Walton at his humble gallery and workshop Oriel Beaumaris in Beaumaris, Anglesey. For lovers of masterly painted seascapes, landscapes and skyscape Ian is among the few who excels in fine art. Affordable originals and limited prints are available to purchase, or you can commission artwork. This would make a great investment. Ian's honesty and openness, sharing his life experiences, work and joys (art, music, teaching, people, travelling, sailing, mountaineering among others) made a chance meeting into an enriching and inspiring encounter. I left feeling uplifted. Ian was candid in sharing his knowledge and techniques with me. No pretences. He introduced me to his friend David Woodford a highly celebrated master painter and his work through a link to 'Colour In Your Life' tutorial series on YouTube. Well worth watching! Ian's and David's paintings celebrate the splendor and serenity of light, of the majesty of nature, its colours and movement, of which they are both an inseparable part. My only regret was not being able to spend more time with Ian however, this is a good reason to return to Oriel Beaumaris! Thank you Ian.

I had a full days tuition from Ian painting skies and seas- given to me as a birthday present and what an absolutely fabulous time I had! Learnt so much- Ian is a great teacher giving lots of tips and instruction but encouraging you to do your own thing! Ian’s own paintings are amazing and very atmospheric- just hope I can be as good as he is one day, will keep practicing and using the techniques he taught. His gallery is full of his beautiful paintings but he will also do commissions if you have a favourite area of Anglesey or North Wales in mind. Brilliant day and loads of lovely memories. Thankyou Ian!

Spent a good 1/2 hr looking at the paintings and prints. Some prints were so good you needed to be told they were prints. The 1/2hr also included a really friendly conversation with the artist/owner. We also had our dog (a Chow Chow) with us and we were all made very welcome. The sea scapes were mesmerising and there was one mountain scene I think we are now saving up for. If you are in Beaumaris you must call in.

Ian Walton is a highly skilled artist who offers personalised tuition in oil painting. I have attended Ian's classes and have created paintings that I am proud to display at home. Ian has a positive and a 'can do' attitude and places students at ease.
Ian Walton is very helpful, friendly and approachable and will bring out the best in your creative ability.
