Although this house is open to the public from April, the actual open days are quite restricted so you need to check before you come. Quite simply, this large manor house is stunning and a major feature in the lovely little town of Ruthin. Although we couldn't gain entry, I enjoyed looking at the exterior of the house and the... Remarkably well preserved house with some parts dating back to the 17th century. Lots of very interesting artefacts including period furniture, art works and wartime memorabilia. Quiet low ceilings and doorways mean tall took have to mind their heads. The Lord's garden is lovely and afford great views of the castle next door. All well worth seeing and a fiver... More

Went here in September with some friends, it's a lot bigger than you originally think when entering, lots of different era's explained, there was a national lottery funded project going on in the garden area and there were bats in the attic which Chester zoo are keeping an eye on and monitoring. All in all a good few hours.

My friends and I were staying in ruthin for birthday celebrations and decided to pay a visit to this little gem on the way home. We were all so glad we did! It's a beautifully kept house and it was so lovely to wander around the rooms and get up close to wonderful items from the past. Beautiful house, beautiful... More

We have visited and liked Ruthin before, but never found this lovely house . It's not just an interesting historic 15th century house but it has been lovingly restored. Inside the rooms have been laid out to illustrate the lives of past inhabitants up to the 1940s. Objects and decorations have, when needed, been recreated. It means that you are... More

This house is the oldest timber framed dwelling house in Wales and was restored in 2005. It is a stunning place to visit and of interest to all ages. The garden is beautiful and a peaceful place to sit in. We would highly recommend it

This is our annual pilgrimage to see The Lord Chamberlain's Men perform Shakespeare. Take your own picnic and chairs and so what if it's a bit soggy (it was for the first time in years this time). The performance is excellent, and the historic setting of Nantclwyd y Dre is perfect. Thoroughly recommended.
