Worth a visit! Whatever age you are
We love this place. Visited last year and again today. The lass that works there (sorry. Didn’t get name) is so well-informed. Everything about insects becomes interesting. Could listen to them talk all day long. Also, the research and attempt at reintroduction of extinct species of butterfly is admirable. Hands-on sesh also informative and great fun for kids. Outdoor area beautifully kept. Wild and inviting. We hope to return next year. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for such a glorious review and I'm so pleased you are making it an annual visit. We really look forward to seeing you next year - when hopefully we will have a brand new exhibition space and the new woodland trees will have grown!

Educational and fun day out for any age.
Incredibly unique and educational day out that we all absolutely loved (us and a six year old!) The lady who gave the Close Up Bugs talk was so knowledgable and passionate and kept two adults and a six year old mesmerised. We even got to hold some bugs! The leaf cutter ants crawling around the tubes were amazing to watch and we talked about the stick insects and beetles the whole way home. The restaurant was fab and a really cool concept. So nice to spend the day learning and enjoying without it feeling like everything cost a fortune! Really reasonable entry fee and only £2 extra each for the bug talk (which was TOTALLY worth that!!!)
What a lovely review - thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience of us and Grub Kitchen. Reviews like this are really nice for us all to read.

    Brilliant and informative day
What a brilliant day out this place is. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and it is well worth joining in the talk where you can see and handle some of the bugs. Imogen was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the insects and made it a really good experience.
Thanks so much for the lovely review and for mentioning Imogen by name - very much appreciated this end.

    A really interesting day out
A brilliant day out which our kids (6&3) absolutely loved. So much great stuff happening here. Really interesting & have told everyone all about how great insect based food is since our visit ! Recommend booking onto the additional session where you can hold insects. Inexpensive cafe selling high quality food . Beautiful grounds. Everything here has been done very well and is really well thought out. Lovely indoor play area too. 10/10.
Thanks so much for such a great review of us and Grub Kitchen - it was a really nice one to read and much appreciated at our busiest time of year.

    Good morning out
Visited in Aug, family of 4 (children 5yr/8yr). We added a hands on bug session for an additional cost (on top of entry fee). Tropical zoo area is a small area you walk through, kids loved looking at all the different species. Hands on session was good, staff really informative and engaging and you get to hold 2 different bugs (cockroach and stick insect). Cafe/restaurant onsite serves a good variety of food - bug and non-bug meals! You can also take your own food, lots of picnic benches. Indoor playbarn was good for a short period of time. Lovely to walk through the meadows of wild flowers. I'd say this place is around a 3hr ish visit (and we did most things twice). You could probably spend longer if you walked all around the meadows/fields but with young children we couldn't do it all. Would recommend to friends who are visiting the area.
Thanks for the review and for recommedning that others visit us too. I would agree, a 3-hour stay time is probably average - some people just pop around in a couple of hours and others come for the day and come back the following day too. You'll have to come back to explore the trails when the children are older!

    Great Place to Visit
Had an impromptu visit this wonderful bug farm. Such a warm welcome when we arrived. We spent around 90 minutes visiting the exhibits and walking around the nature trails. So much information to explore at your leisure. Had a cricketer cookie in the cafe afterwards and made a few purchases in the shop! Great place to visit.
What a lovely review to read - thank you!

    Great family outing 👌
We visited here yesterday while on a overnight stay nearby. We had a fantastic time! Unfortunately we didn't explore the outside as we didn't have appropriate footwear for the weather, but we did look around the bug museum, have lunch at the grub kitchen and get close and personal with some cute bugs. We own indian insects and thorny stick insects so it was lovely to see different species of stick insects. We also held a hissing cockroach! The staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. We will definitely be returning in the near future.
Thanks for such a lovely review - we highly recommend you come on a sunny day later in the year to fully enjoy the outdoor trails for a completely different experience. See you soon!

Critters, cricket cookies and good times
Just wow! We had such a fabulous day. We did the up close session and met some fantastic critters. We held a giant cockroach, stick insect and saw so many happy bugs in their fantastic habitats. Grace who did the talk was really amazing, so knowledgeable and friendly. Comical too. We tried cricket cookies and they were surprisingly tasty. The ant farm in particular was so interesting and we are now going to do our own smaller set up. Price was fab. Thank you so much! We will be back 🤍
Ah - what a lovely review to read - that made me smile. Grace does indeed have a superb sense of humour! Good luck with your ant set-up and we look forward to hearing about it on your next visit.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch of insect burgers, soup and pizza for a less adventuous child. The food was wonderfully presented and the side salad lovely. Would return just for the food.

The bug exhibits are fascinating. Lots of information, had I forgotten slugs have a breathing hole? I'm not sure but I remember now! The live bugs are probably best, certainly captured the children's imagination.

A large outdoor area to explore. You can get round much of it in trainers but better in more robust footwear. More interesting facts outside, nicely landscaped, some cows and horses. We liked the boggy area with a stream.

The indoor play area was clean with fresh woodchip. It's not fancy but it's thoughtfully equipped with a bit of a bug theme - a spider's web to throw balls at and hope the velcro sticks!

Everyone we met there was pleasant. It just seemed a really nice, interesting place born of a passion for bugs and care for our environment. Visit, enjoy and feel good :-).
