Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The scenery is amazing and we were lucky with the weather. However we found the route difficult to follow due to a lack of signs and reluctantly turned back after a couple of miles. Disappointing not to be able to complete the circuit. As the walk is well publicised we had thought it would be better marked. Also a few more benches along the way would be nice.

Read Poem in October...then read bits of it again as you follow this lovely walk past the harbor and up into the woods on the hill. It can be muddy so good boots are suggested and there are some steepish spots. A lovely, easy hike with a bench every so often to stop and take in the stunning views.

There was some confusion with where the Dylan Thomas Birthday Walk actually started, as my husband and I ended up following some other tourists and completed the Lauagharne Heritage Walk instead on Day 1. If you want to do more walking as this is a very short walk - continue to walk past the Boat House and follow the trail - and each fence you cross leads to different open fields, which has amazing views especially if you climb some of the hills). On Day 2, we figured out that from the car park, instead of crossing over the little bridge towards the Castle, you follow the stream to your right (where you might see locals doing fishing) and continue walking down the pavement you will then see more sign posts regarding the Dylan Tomas Birthday Walk. It has beautiful views, a little steep but if your walking slowly and observing nature, the scenery then you should be fine. Its a perfect area to take your dogs for a lovely walk. If you continue past the last verse, you will come to some steep steps in which will lead you to the bottom and if you continue that very long path (labelled as Salt Hill Farm Fences) it would lead you near Corran Resort and Spa. I would definitely recommend this walk (probably about 90 minutes for each walk - again depending how much you want to observe).

There is an excellent walk up St John's hiil that is signposted as the Dylan Thomas Birthday walk. It is only a brief walk and provides spectacular views over the Taf estuary. Free car parking is at at the Castle car park but be careful of high tides.

I felt it quite emotional to stroll along this walk - to read the verses of the poem along the way. I could feel just what Dylan must have been feeling, the sites the sounds, the sea and the birds. The whole heritage walk including the boathouse, the church and the grave was well worth it. I was struck with the simplicity of Dylan's grave - an easy must do walk. I felt 'at one' with the poet.

The walk continues up through the wood , and over the top of the hill with views over the estuary, with seats and panels. Unfortunately the walk by the foreshore is not the Dylan Thomas Birthday walk. Maybe a chance to welcome you to Laugharne again on your Birthday and see the beautiful views. Thank you for your lovely comments. Kind regards Bob

We did this walk following heavy rain therefore the path was very muddy. However, we were dressed and prepared for the weather. It got quite steep in some places but we managed the full circuit. The last leg of the walk could be made clearer giving directions down the road back into Laugharne. Took about 2 hours.

We did the walk on his birthday. It was well signposted. It was lovely to find information boards with some of Dylan Thomas' poems on them.
A really emotional walk.

We did the Dylan's Birthday walk and we were not disappointed. It is a challenge if you don't like a hilly walk, but it fairly easy if you take it slow. Once you have put in the effort you are rewared with gorgeous views!

Where is the start of the walk? Postcode please? Is there parking nearby? Thanks
Written 12 September 2018
Not sure of the post code but it is in the centre of Laugharne next to the castle. There is a car park where you can easily park.
