- James C1 contributionGreat paddle boarding location. What an amazing location, great access to the lake from the the abundance of free parking. Very quiet and very tranquil and ideal for learning stand up paddle boarding. Although we didn’t use it, the cafe looked very popular and is very close by. Will definitely be planning another trip.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 19 March 2023
- Helena DExeter, United Kingdom2 contributionsKayakingA lovely couple of hours kayaking on the lake. Nice friendly staff, easy launch, standard equipment. There were a couple of motor boats with water skiers on the back. Obviously it would have been nicer if they weren’t there, but they were considerate and didn’t come too close. A lot of weed in the lake - I wouldn’t want to fall in! Beautiful views, lots of waterfowl.Visited June 2023Travelled soloWritten 1 July 2023
- Desislava AndreevaPortsmouth, United Kingdom15 contributionsPeaceful and full of birdsOur AirB&B was on the village, so after having dinner, we decided to walk to the lake. It was very nice walk, 5-20 min from the village. The place where they store the boats was full with birds, nesting. The lake looked so peaceful and the light of the sunset was painted over the water, so beautiful!Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 August 2023

Lovely place, great staff, reasonably priced. Kayaked the lake in November, cold but still really nice. Easy place to launch kayak without getting wet.

Myself and my son went to Llangorse lake for some pike fishing, we hired a boat for two days, rhe first day was amazing, beautiful place, very friendly staff and we caught a decent sized Pike, whilst loosing two others, our van broke down meaning we couldn't attend on the 2nd day, so they fully refunded our boat hire and fishing permit so we can attend at a later date, really amazing guys, big thank you to you all!

Llangorse Lake is a big old pile of old water, kept in a muddy hole in the ground. It was nice to look at on a sunny day. By far the best thing about it is the watertop roundhouse. I could have sat there for hours. My only criticism of it is that the cross member, keeping the rafters together, should be a single piece in a spiral rather than a collection of concentric circles. Even the duck poo decking was probably authentic. I didn't try to pull the sword out of the stone because I felt that discovering that I was king of the Britons sounds like a faff that would mess up my retirement plans.

We had a fantastic three nights at this family friendly site. The camping fields are very well kept, spacious and quiet. We also found that all the usual campsite facilities were there, with private, well designed shower rooms.
Location wise, this site is perfect. It takes only a couple of minutes to walk to the lake, where you can use your own craft for a small fee, or hire one. Lovely location for walking and cycling too.
Larger towns are in easy reach, we visited Brecon which was not much more than a 15 minute drive away.
We definitely hope to visit again soon.

Lovely afternoon on a very picturesque lake with views of the famous pen y fan and corn du in the background. Super friendly staff looking out for us on the lake. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Is there a track you can cycle around the lake??
Jean D
Broughton Astley, UK128 contributions
No, it is not suitable for bikes. The path only goes part way around. We didnt get to walk it as the field from the car parking area to the lake was waterlogged.

I own a canoe hire company on the Wye and I’m looking to come to the lake with my staff to practice our canoeing over the winter, is there any restrictions on this or can I just turn up with a minibus and trailer? Are there any recommended spots best to go, so not to annoy fishermen etc

No sorry as it will cause annoyance to other customers, but we do have camping/ touring pitches with electric.
Is this place suitable for someone with limited walking ability and is there food available on site
LakesideLlangorse
Brecon Beacons National Park, UK6 contributions
If you just want to view the lake the area around the jetties is flat, the walk around the lake has stiles , can be boggy if wet and is not wheelchair friendly. Their is a cafe 250 meters from the lake.

Can dogs be left off leads anywhere near campsite, and can they go in water anywhere?
LakesideLlangorse
Brecon Beacons National Park, UK6 contributions
On the common is ok as long as no sheep are on there which is not normally the case. I always let my dog jump in the lake away from the ducks.

Please could you tell me what the access is currently like around the lake following the flooding (15/5/18) Could you also tell me if the bird hide is accessible at sunrise? Many thanks.

Hi the footpath is accessible at the moment though very muddy just after the footbridge off Llangorse Common. The bird hide on the Llangasty side of the lake is not currently locked at night.

are there boats etc available to hire from April 1st this year?
LakesideLlangorse
Brecon Beacons National Park, UK6 contributions
Hi, boat hire is available at Llangorse Lake - rowing boats, fishing boats, canoes, kayaks, pedaloes etc, please telephone 01874 658226 to check availability. With the current weather conditions it is unlikely that full boat hire will be available for 1st April, water temperatures are extremely low and the wind speeds are high but please give us a call closer to the date.

Are there any walking routes suitable for a buggy? Or maybe a short walk for a baby in a carrier?
LakesideLlangorse
Brecon Beacons National Park, UK6 contributions
Only around the common very boggy in winter , not a big area. The footpaths leading from the common have stiles. The nicest walk that goes to Llangasty gets flooded in winter in summer lovely but you would need a carrier.
