Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great Lake, stunning views, took our own kayak, good value £13 for day. Avoid Lakeside Bar, they only had 2 baguettes on the menu - beef/chicken & stuffing with roast potatoes and gravy - no other food on offer!! which at peak holiday season at 2pm was disappointing. Also it took 40 minutes to arrive and the beef was cold inside, there were hardly any customers either. Staff didn’t even apologise for the delay. The whole place stank of strong bleach we couldn’t bear to stay inside. We had wished we had gone to the lakeside cafe which was further up from there, closer to the exit but we didn’t spot it as it wasn’t that visible, so will try there next time.

This was a lovely place but make sure you head to the South side at Llangasty Tal y llyn where there is a small free car park by the beautiful little Saint Gastyn's church.
Then it's an easy short walk through several gates to the hide. Sadly, there wasn't much bird life on the lake, but the woods were full of activity with loads of long tailed tits. The walk is so peaceful and just lacks an occasional bench on the path for those of us who like to sit and absorb the atmosphere.

Had an excellent day Pike fishing on the lake with my sons. The shop owner was more than helpful and answered all of our questions helping us to choose so.e tackle for Perch as well. The cafe is a great spot for a refuel and the lake itself is beautiful. Great day out!

The lake itself is very big and overall good for paddle boarding . The jetty is rather busy at times and it can become difficult to launch . The reason I would not recommend this place is the hefty cost to use the lake - it was £30 (2 people/2 paddle boards) to take our own equipment on the lake . I think this fee is ridiculous considering we only required the use of their jetty , which wasn’t even very well kept (I think that a fee is fair but not this amount) . Overall I would not visit this place again .

We stopped here for an hour+ while travelling from south of England to our holiday cottage in Wales.
Absolutely fabulous.
It has plenty of parking & it’s free to park too.
Lots of area to walk around & the lake is gorgeous.
We didn’t have the opportunity to take boat or anything else onto the lake, but there are plenty of options to hire & at a reasonable price too.

We went to visit the lake as we knew there was a nearby cafe for breakfast.
The lake itself was beautiful especially as it was a very warm day. We went on the crannog where we could enjoy the scenery and watch people kayaking whilst seeing the mountains in the backdrop.

Brilliant day pike fishing. Very reasonably priced and a good quality boat. Beautiful scenery and well conditioned fish. Nice to go somewhere so natural and litter free.

We were staying locally and spent a lovely morning here. Free parking and lots to see with fantastic views. Had a wander around the boating/ kayak area and visited the Welsh Crannog Centre. Lots of information boards about telling of the ancient dwelling built on the water. Lots of wildlife to see. The cafe, unfortunately was closed so we went elsewhere for lunch. A beautiful and peaceful location.

We had a fantastic three nights at this family friendly site. The camping fields are very well kept, spacious and quiet. We also found that all the usual campsite facilities were there, with private, well designed shower rooms.
Location wise, this site is perfect. It takes only a couple of minutes to walk to the lake, where you can use your own craft for a small fee, or hire one. Lovely location for walking and cycling too.
Larger towns are in easy reach, we visited Brecon which was not much more than a 15 minute drive away.
We definitely hope to visit again soon.

Is there a track you can cycle around the lake??
Written 7 July 2020
No, it is not suitable for bikes. The path only goes part way around. We didnt get to walk it as the field from the car parking area to the lake was waterlogged.

I own a canoe hire company on the Wye and I’m looking to come to the lake with my staff to practice our canoeing over the winter, is there any restrictions on this or can I just turn up with a minibus and trailer? Are there any recommended spots best to go, so not to annoy fishermen etc

Your best bet is to ring the lake direct on :01874 20658226 to double check

No sorry as it will cause annoyance to other customers, but we do have camping/ touring pitches with electric.

Is this place suitable for someone with limited walking ability and is there food available on site
Written 12 June 2018
If you just want to view the lake the area around the jetties is flat, the walk around the lake has stiles , can be boggy if wet and is not wheelchair friendly. Their is a cafe 250 meters from the lake.

Can dogs be left off leads anywhere near campsite, and can they go in water anywhere?
Written 20 May 2018
On the common is ok as long as no sheep are on there which is not normally the case. I always let my dog jump in the lake away from the ducks.

Please could you tell me what the access is currently like around the lake following the flooding (15/5/18) Could you also tell me if the bird hide is accessible at sunrise? Many thanks.
Written 13 May 2018
Hi the footpath is accessible at the moment though very muddy just after the footbridge off Llangorse Common. The bird hide on the Llangasty side of the lake is not currently locked at night.

are there boats etc available to hire from April 1st this year?
Written 17 March 2018
Hi, boat hire is available at Llangorse Lake - rowing boats, fishing boats, canoes, kayaks, pedaloes etc, please telephone 01874 658226 to check availability. With the current weather conditions it is unlikely that full boat hire will be available for 1st April, water temperatures are extremely low and the wind speeds are high but please give us a call closer to the date.

Are there any walking routes suitable for a buggy? Or maybe a short walk for a baby in a carrier?
Written 2 January 2018
Only around the common very boggy in winter , not a big area. The footpaths leading from the common have stiles. The nicest walk that goes to Llangasty gets flooded in winter in summer lovely but you would need a carrier.
