Powis Castle owned by National Trust. Went this evening for the Illuminated gardens walk, stunning! The castle looked magnificent in the dark night with coloured lights. Some of the rooms in the castle had been decorated in a querky Christmas style, very original themes. Only slight disappointment that no one had thought to put any kind of Christian slant on... Had a lovely evening at powis castle which is illuminated for three weekends every year at the beginning of December. Definitely a fine weather experience but well worth a visit. Not particularly easy access but children under supervision would be thrilled. So well done

Due to the season some of the castle was closed off as is the case with many National Trust properties in the winter when maintenance and cleaning is done. Still, what we managed to see was pretty grand and impressive and we enjoyed our visit to the castle which had many beautiful elements to admire. Perhaps one for us to... More

A great castle to look around. Staff were very knowledgeable about the castle and the earl who used to live there. For 2 adults it was half price in November as some rooms were closed so it was £13 for two of us. The castle is well maintained and a lot to look at and read. The gardens are 50... More

The original castle goes back to medieval times, but has undergone changes through time. The Herberts travelled around and brought back lots of different items with them - lots of Chinese and other oriental goods, as well as some fantastic Italian pietro dura and carved heads, amongst other things. Most of the furnishings and wooden items have retained their original... More

We happened to be driving near here while touring the area. So glad we stopped in & looked round the wonderful castle. As it was Remembrance Sunday there was a wartime theme running throughout which was both poignant & respectful. A WW1 trench had been recreated, complete with sound effects. Very realistic & sobering. The gardens were beautiful, the autumn... More

Beautiful gardens, lovely castle, friendly staff. Dogs are allowed in the courtyard only due to the deer roaming all over the park. Worth a visit.
