Looks like they may be starting to tend to the gardens volunteers out. Had a latte in the cafe lovely surroundings and great coffee.Visited December 2022Travelled with friendsWritten 7 December 2022
- bryoniaKerry, United Kingdom4 contributionsBeautiful gardens, slightly disappointing cafeWe came for lunch today as a group. We tried to book yesterday via the phone number on the website, but it went to a French answerphone? So I messaged via Facebook and got a prompt reply saying open for lunch with no need to book. It was quite busy and we were fortunate to get the last free table. The biggest disappointment was that there was only soup or toasties available, rather than the full menu advertised online (pizzas, salads, etc). The staff were nice and the food was lovely but it just wasn't what we were hoping for. Seperately, we have visited the gardens several times since they reopened in the summer and they are so lovely, almost like the Secret Garden - charmingly delapidated with enough to keep the kids entertained. Beware in damp weather the arched bridge is extremely slippy. We will certainly be back for exploring and a coffee, but probably not another lunch.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 30 December 2022
- chrisR4289EAOswestry, United Kingdom60 contributionsMagical experienceThis is place we always go past always saying we should call in, we are glad we did after parking the car, we went to the side of the hall and caught a view of the lake before calling at the toilets which were immaculate nicely decorated and clean. Had a look at the antique shop good old school stock and no rubbish pretending to be vintage patina (in my day it was called rust!!), Lovely, friendly, proprietor. Nice Grand father clock and very reasonably priced . The courtyard had plenty of tables and benches. The walled garden had the appearance of decayed spender (but so has our garden this time of year!!). It was charming . The café was lovely nice friendly staff and dog friendly, even had treats her lots of people made a fuss of her. we had pork pie and my wife had pea and mint soup. of particular note was the chutney (apple and pear) that came with the pork pie, so tasty. If it was on sale I would have bought some). We went through gardens past the hall and its outstanding water feature and gates. The lake was lovely with snowdrops and daffodils in a few more weeks it will be exceptional and the bridge and island were much photographed. Excellent seating frequent and some covered. After going over the bridge we were delighted to find water features with stadial stones, enchanting!! We will be back on Friday with our Grandson By the way if you like gardening they are after volunteers (if only we were younger)Visited February 2023Written 19 February 2023
- Adyna R1 contributionA hidden gemWe visited this little hidden gem while we were passing through Berriew, following a friend’s recommendation. We arrived at opening time and were the only ones exploring the magical gardens and lake. Very natural and very beautiful. So peaceful. We headed off to the coffee shop and were served by friendly staff and enjoyed coffees in comfortable seating in the beautiful courtyard. While enjoying our coffees we asked the waitress about the history of the house and grounds and were fortunate to meet up with a lovely lady, named Ferol, who had spent a large part of her life living on the estate. It was lovely to hear the history of the place and really brought it’s history to life together with plans for the future. After coffee, we headed to the fascinating little antique shop for a browse. Once again, we were met by a friendly and helpful gentleman. We will definitely return when we are in the area again, as we would love to visit the gardens at different times of the year.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 August 2023
- katskell34 contributionsLike pages from The Secret Garden book.Well what can I say, I have just returned from a weekend with family and friends in the most beautiful, relaxing and peaceful place i think i ever been to...... The Hayloft at Glensevern Hall and Gardens. Everything was just so lovely, from the owners Jem,Fern and Will to the wild and peaceful garden and grounds. The gardens are just like a chapter from The Secret Garden. They are wild and overgrown in places but so natural and as they say Rome wasn't built in a day and they're a work in progress. There's so much too see from the gorgeous Hall, the lake full of lily pads and stunning water features. There's bridges and an Orangery, a bird hide and a grotto. Lots of hidden gems for all to explore. We even booked the wood burning hot tub while staying in the Hayloft which is set in the beautiful scenic grounds of the hall.So if you or your children like to explore wild and mystical places Glensevern Hall is the place to go. Oh....I nearly forgot, theres also peacocks. Yes I did say peacocks.Visited August 2023Travelled with familyWritten 7 August 2023

After a disaster with our original accommodation(wrong turn) we had to try find somewhere else last minute and we found this beauty jem and fern were amazing from start to finish very hands on with there busy working/family life. These gardens are a work in progress but they are still truly beautiful I look forward to seeing the transformations that will be done for our return next year :) our hayloft accommodation was perfect and extremely clean.,the hot tub was perfect in the middle of the beautiful gardens with the best views. I have nothing bad to say everything was fab. Only recommendation of for the hayloft to have more comfy seating at there is only a two seater and it sleeps five. 10* what an absolute beautiful place 😍
After what seemed to be the worst day of our girls weekend away 😩 and being let down, we needed to find a new accommodation and fast!.... We came across this little beauty of a place.
Jem and Fern were amazing, so hands on even though they have a busy working /family life, but still find time to keep guests super happy.
Yes the place is a little over grown in areas, but I think it looks lovely and attracts so much more wildlife, there is so much land to explore with beautiful views. I am looking forward to the transformations for when we return next year!.
Our accommodation hayloft cottage was amazing.
I am looking forward to seeing the peacocks roaming round next year too.
.....oh nearly forgot the fire hot tub was such a lovely little touch, and with the right weather and company, with the views makes the perfect night.
Thank you again ☺️ Kirsty x

I took my sisters here for a weekend in May - our cottage was beautiful. We walked around the gardens (which were so lovely) and enjoyed an early evening spread/picnic in the courtyard. We’re definitely wanting to go back

After being let down by our previously booked accommodation, we luckily stumbled across Glansevern, Jem and Fern! From the minute we arrived it was like heaven on Earth, stunning views, and while the gardens are a work in progress, they were beautiful and were improving naturally; I have never seen so many butterflies in my life. Jem and Fern were on hand, both by message and in person, despite their busy family and work life, in an instant, and made us feel at home. Jem's advice for using the hot tub was invaluable as we were new to setting up a wood fired hot tub; an amenity which completely made our experience. The Hayloft is beautifully decorated and felt like a home from home. We've already booked to return next year!

We visited a few times before covid. But last week we were shocked at how the once beautiful gardens had become overgrown with weeds.
The cafe had very little choice and a few of the items on the menu were not available. I hope it returns to its former glory soon.

Dear Shiela
Many apologies, the estate was for sale for 2 years so the business was dormant. I am thrilled to say we are back up and running and the Trip advisor credits speak for themselves. I hope to welcome you here very soon.
Kind regards
