- Bill Emmett-CallaghanSouthampton, United Kingdom10 contributionsCRAZY KATE AND THE MEGAWINNERSToday we have had the best day ever at our favourite slot machines in the country. Thanks to the wonderful kind and helpful 'Crazy Kate' our notes changed into coins which changed into so many prizes and raffle tickets. The excitement of watching the 'MEGAWIN' raffle tickets mounting up higher and higher in front of our very eyes was beyond! Again a mahoosive thanks to Crazy Kate and we can't wait to return soon 😀Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 19 December 2023
- Joshane615Australia616 contributionsGreat to visit. We visited on a weekday during May. It was very quiet, with not many visitors during the time we were there. No line up to get on the rides! There are some great thrill rides available for those wanting to partake in them. The park does seem a little dated, but overall we enjoyed our time there.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 June 2024

An amusement arcade, is very dismal, untidy entrance area...Best thing was it was close to the lovely beach.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 June 2024

- Claire MGosport, United Kingdom6 contributionsBarry Islandthe rides were good and I felt good value for money and a good amount of time on each ride. The food van we ate from was very nice. I found the area of Barry Island Pleasure Park very run down and the car park I had to park in wasn't very welcoming I was very nervous to walk away from the car and felt intimidated by some youths that were up to no good. the beach looked lovely and very busy but because I had the dog I didn't get to actually get to walk on it. the ice cream I had on the promenade was very niceVisited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 2 September 2024

Firstly the surrounding coastline and beach is beautiful. The beach was clean and felt safe with a very present lifeguard team. Then we decided to visit the fair area and it was dire. No control of the number of people entering and felt very overcrowded, compounded with the fact that their is no queuing system at all for the rides. To go on to the rides you had to purchase dirty coins that had been touched by god knows how many people. Not every ride had hand sanitiser not that that mattered as the ones that did have people were not using or being asked to use. Naturally the area was full of tourists and god forbid one had Covid-19 they could potentially have affected loads not that anyone could contact us as no Track and Trace details were taken. I'm sure outside of this current climate it's a fab place but I would avoid for now.

Really disappointed with our visit this week. Haven’t been in the park since I was a child but used to love it and thought I would bring my children to enjoy the rides. We bought £20 worth of tokens (thinking we may need to buy more) but we actually left with 10 tokens still on us.
We were in the park at midday and so many rides were unmanned. We we stood waiting for rides that were on but no one was there to take the tokens and let you on. We gave up on many in the end.
Barry was absolutely rammed, it was a lovely day but still there were rides not being operated.
Everything seemed so dingy and the park could honestly do with investment and a massive facelift. It was sad to see it so run down. Everything looked old and not well maintained. Walking through the arcades there was no order to anything and everything just seemed to be dumped where it could fit it, the floor was really uneven and potentially dangerous.
If you have small children I would recommend the few rides by Marcos cafe rather than the pleasure park.

The outside fairground staff are a joke. How much are they paid to speak to people like that.. that when they do speak people because they're stood on their phones while queues of impatient children gather around the ride or stall they're supposed to work on. Iv never seen such a disgusting attitude on a bunch of teenagers who speak to adults like utter sh*t. We don't pay £10 for 10 tokens that can't even be use in the adjacent fairground to be rudely ignored and then argued with over what ones job discription is when my son had been queueing around 7 mins at gone 7pm for the only ride he is able to go on and all the kids that run the stalls are congregating on a different ride gossiping and on their phones, i understand break but when asked if any9ne was manning the ride the girl was absolutely disgusting, they made my mother feel small, she made my 12 year old son with emotional struggles feel like a problem. One day she's going to speak to the wrong person like that.
Prices are DISGUSTING and alot of the staff need a course in social skills and how to be professional in a place of work.
Carousel was the only decently staffed place where they treated me, my mother and my children very kindly.

Well to say I was scared and disappointed is an understatement!
We stayed in the pleasure park for about ten mins, there was well over a thousand people in a very small radius. No matter how hard we tried there was absolutely no way we could social distance, people were on top of people.
There was no one monitoring the amount of people in the park, we only saw one ride operator spray down the ride after use. They were no hygiene precautions in place that I saw. One off one in the seat, head bars being used, no sanitation or anything. My children were desperate to go on rides and after watching the owner say they are taking it very seriously and taking precautions I thought they could but there was no way I could let my children on the rides or even stay in there. It was crazy! There was also no way to fill out anything for track and trace. There clearly is no fear of Covid in Barry island anymore. If you go at the moment go with the knowledge that you will be taking high risks!
I’m absolutely gutted we went and feel bad as we left very quickly, and will not return until the pandemic is over.
The owner of this park should really take a good long hard look at his risk assessment and re evaluate!!
It was shocking!!!

The kids loved it! As great grandparents we're a bit past the thrills of roller coasters but the kids loved all the traditional fairground rides. The ghost train, the roller coasters and bumper cars were all enjoyed. Be warned: It's easy to spend £100 on rides if you have 3 or more kids that want to try everything!

The rides were what you would expect from a fair of its size. Typhoon was our favourite. There aren't too many rides so we sat down between each ride to take in the atmosphere so that we didn't spend all our tokens within an hour because there were no queues. If you buy tokens in bulk it's not too expensive. 50 tokens for £35, with most rides costing 3 tokens per person and a few costing 4. Some of the staff were a bit grumpy but it didn't ruin the experience. A few of the rides weren't running, which was disappointing, especially the log flume.

I love Barry Island I take my kids their regularly but the price for a ride is crazy.
They are charging £7.20 per ride if your an adult with two kids.
The rides literally last less than 2 minutes.
Such a ripoff!!!!

We have been here twice. While I feel as if the place can be crowded at times, there are plenty of rides here for all types of people. Cyclone is the largest of the two roller coasters here and while it is only a family coaster and can be rough at times it still provides thrills suitable for all ages. Dragon Challenge is a great coaster for younger people first getting into the world of amusement parks and is still fun even for older people who might be too afraid to ride much else. Their log flume Pirate River is sure to leave you soaked while the other flat rides here provide a wide range of experiences, from child friendly and gentle to terrifying. We plan on returning in the future to experience more of the flat rides (mostly the larger ones such as their Mondial Topscan as we weren't quite ready for them). While we did not use them there are plenty of facilities on or near the site, such as toilets and cafes. Overall, an iconic funfair that is perfect for a family day out.

Let's get it started this way - the beach is great and the seafront is very attractive.
That said, having a 5 year old, he was drawn to the Fairground, just wow. Everything is filthy, the car park was like a building site, the attendants are ignorant, and the prices are ridiculous.
Dodgems, 3 tokens (£3) PER PERSON, so for me and my 5 year old to have less than 5 minutes of bumper car fun was £6.
Better still, I bought 12 tokens so we could have 2 goes, and stayed in the car to offer the attendant my tokens for the next ride. He refused and we were made to get out of the car, go around the dodgems to the Entrance, and get back on to the still empty ride.
Avoid at all costs for your wallet's sake. Thankfully my little guy is too small to go on the "big rides" as they all look like deathtraps.

The area itself was beautiful and everyone so helpful but our experience of the remy/romy cafe was not a good experienc. I went with 3 special need children, given a price for a ball then short changed the boys by a pound. And after I argued with them they still refused to give me the right change and went on to do the same thing to two other customers whilst we were still there. Avoid them like the plague
