We walked up from Shelley Beach to the north head and spent a couple hours just meandering through the sites of historical interest and the beautiful vegetation. There are some wonderful views of the surrounding area. Definitely take with you binoculars in June-July for whale...More

It doesn't get much better than a relaxed picnic dinner while watching the sun set over Sydney, and this is something you can do at North Head. There are some truly lovely spots to sit and it is a wonderful way to pass the afternoon/evening....More

The best views in Sydney, full of history, both pre and post settlement, plenty of war history too. You will need to have a fond like of seeing tourists buzzing around taking group photos, but I tend to walk to areas they have no idea...More

North head commands magnificent views of both Sydney Harbour and The Tasman Sea. It is relatively unspoilt despite centuries as a defence zone, which also has enabled it not to be over-built. It can be reached by car, bicycle or bus, and has wonderful facilities...More

If you are travelling here, make sure you take some binoculars. At the right time of year you can spot whales from the lookout points. We saw a pod of three whales clearly. The walk is lovely but has been fenced in to keep people...More

Probably the best view of the harbour and city from the north side. You can take the bus from Manly or it would be an hours walk. The view is sensational

A 40-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay will take
you to the famous northern beach of Manly. The beaches
here are perfect for learning to surf or spending the
day sun-tanning. The walk from Spit Bridge to Manly is
a great way to experience Sydney Harbour Bay and the
Australian bush land. Along the foreshore, there are
plenty of watering holes and wine bars with excellent
cuisine. There are plenty of kid-friendly restaurants
