Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This dog friendly beach is to be avoided. We watched as a mastiff type dog first crapped in the sea then again on the sand. It's owner just watched and made no effort to pick up the mess. The rest of the Ist world's countries are banning dogs from public beaches. Time to catch up.

Narrow beach between the harbour and the intrusive mansions but the sand is ok and it's a rare place that allows dogs. Most importantly, it's a rare part of Rose Bay that's not affected by the main road and the golf course.

Rose Bay is one of the larger beaches on Sydney Harbour. It is a pleasant enough spot, the sand is clean, there is shade and lawn behind the beach and you can hire kayaks here. But be warned: it is also a very dog-friendly beach: an off-leash haven for pampered pooches. When we visited the dogs were well-behaved and thankfully we did not see unscooped-up poops on the sand or in the water. But with this many dogs, I'm sure it happens

Even if you don’t have a dog you should visit this beach. The dogs have the best time chasing each other in and out of the water. The labs are the funniest. Being water dogs they just throw themselves in the water.

I discovered this place purely by accident as I was trying to get to Bondi Beach from Manly one Sunday morning back in November. My google maps app suggested taking the ferry to Circular Quay, then a second over to Rose Bay and then jump onto a bus to Bondi Beach.

Hence I found myself briefly in this part of Sydney harbour - in the rain. Never mind. It gave me a chance to take a quick look around and watch a sea plane dive down and "land" (or should that be "water?) at the "terminal" near the ferry wharf. Looked quite thrilling.

Other than that, I surreptitiously visited the restrooms of a nearby cafeteria (Jezve Cafe) by stealing around the back feeling slightly guilty as I hadn't bought anything there. I shouldn't have worried because while I was there two large luxury buses stopped and disgorged all their aged cruise ship passengers who made for the same restrooms.

Eventually the driver of my bus, the 324, which had been parked up the whole time, finished his 20 minute or so break and I jumped on an continued my journey to Bondi beach.

Rose Bay beach is just a short walk from the shopping centre. It isn't vast but it is clean and well maintained and has beatiful parklands behind it. There is tennis and bowls across the street, a couple of boat clubs as well as eateries and the former renamed RSL. You can arrange a flight on a seaplane if you wish the club has its own warf. This time of year there was plenty of parking in the hinterland but you can take the ferry to the beach if you prefer not to drive. The waterfront walks are lovely even with a bit of construction taking place.
