Wandering here shows you how important the Railway was commercially. The buildings need a lot of TLC and vision - it will come.

We walked from our accommodation in the hope of visiting this station which houses the museum, but it is by appointment only. Everywhere around looked neglected & we were sorry that the old buildings appeared to be unloved with the exception of Bill's Shed.

The station and sheds and even white railway crossing gate are in excellent condition for their age, despite that the tracks have been pulled up for decades and It hasn't been used as a station for along time. It is a pity that the station...More

I'm a little biased bcos I grew up in this part of Victoria, but I think it's one of the prettiest places I've seen (western district). Casterton itself has many great old buildings. It's also famous as the birthplace of the Kelpie. It's worth heading...More
