Sublime lunch in a sensational location.
I can’t rave enough about out lunch at Scotchmans hill. I have not had such good service since pre covid days and what a difference it made. Lunch was delicious - 2 courses with matching wine. Bookings are necessary - limited staff mean walk ins are often turned away. Highly recommend the tuna.

    A Must See (and taste!)
We were welcomed by Robin at the lovely town of Portarlington after a lovely ferry ride from Melbourne. The beautifully set vineyard was a pleasure to see, along with hearing Robin’s extensive knowledge on his wines. A truly magnificent meal with delicious tasting wines followed. An absolute joy!

Great way to start our tour
5+ for our wine tasting session. Mark could not have been a more engaging and welcoming host to a group of 14. It was a cracking way to start our day and the RNH crew look forward to coming back

Another delicious lunch at Scotchmans Hill!
Well I did leave a glowing report 2 weeks ago and was true to my word to be back soon! Another delicious lunch...I can heartily recommend the duck. Lovely wine, great company and the weather was perfect again... Add to that that the staff remembered me and took great care of us... and Dirk the dog. Thanks again Scotchmans Hill ❤️

Stella service, views, food & wine
Such a special spot on the Bellarine. We are new(ish) to Geelong and still discovering this lovely region. Friends had recommended Scotchman’s for the views, wine, food and atmosphere & it didn’t disappoint! Just lovely service for our casual dining choice (cheese and charcuterie) under the trees and around the wine barrels. Arrived at noon expecting crowds but there was plenty of room. The garden area was excellent for kids although more limited offerings food and drink wise. The charming maitre de outside was very attentive (thank you!). Cant wait to come back.

    Very Fancy Fish And Chips!
Six family members attended the restaurant (bistro) for a Saturday lunch. We had reviewed the winery and restaurant thoroughly online, so our expectations were high. The restaurant has very large windows and a good view over the beautiful vineyards is possible pretty much wherever you sit. On this occasion, the restaurant was very busy as a wedding reception had been planned for this day. Even so, service was good with our waitress being friendly and helpful. Now to the food! We all started with the warmed Ciabatta with green olives and an olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip. Very fresh and tasty bread. We also had a portion of the Buffalo Mozzarella. This was delicious, and with the sliced tomatoes and basil, it felt like a Caprese salad. Five out of six family members ordered the Crispy Skin Barramundi Fillet with Miso Macadamia Brassica and Kelp Butter. The fish was cooked to perfection with a rather lovely crispy skin. We also ordered portions of the fries with Chipotle Aioli (Hence, our fancy fish and chips!). This was washed down with the recommended Scotchman's Hill Riesling. Perfect light accompaniment to the fish. Dessert was a delicious Tiramisu, which was creamy with moist light sponge and strong coffee tones. I would very much recommend this venue for families for a lovely lunch or dinner.

Overall a lovely experience

Lovely outdoor setting and ambiance. Elegant yet relaxed. Good table layout with umbrellas and reasonable spacing between tables.

Attentive staff with a lovely manner although knowledge of the wines was somewhat limited.

The food quality was appreciated although the portion size was a little less than desired for the up-there price bracket. A modified pasta dish was requested to accommodate a vegetarian request and this was handled well by the wait staff but the dish did not include additional vegetables to offset the removal of the smoked chicken so I thought that was poor form.

Although I did not try it, the indoor setting and wine tasting and the opportunity for limited food morsels looked lovely and would go back to try that.

The cellar door staffmember was informative about the history of the winery and wines (which was lovely).

A stunning location with too many rules. Dropping in solo late afternoon when all the crowds have gone, to grab a glass of wine and reflect with the view, I was told I could only sit in the bistro if I was to have a single glass (restricted view), when I asked if I could sit outside where the view is plentiful, I was told only bottles of wine can be drunk there. I then asked can I at least sit on the grass in front of the bistro, they said it should be ok but there is a minimum spend of $30. With 40 minutes of service to go, plenty of time to sip a glass, and only maybe 4 groups scattered in the different areas, I thought this was poor service. As a single visitor, it's not like I was going to make a big dent to your system, so it made me feel compelled to leave this review. Shame on you Scotchmans Hill for being so complicated and uninviting. I left feeling deflated and wished I never stopped in at all.

We had a planned wine tasting here and we were left so disappointed. The setting of Scotchmans Hill is beautiful and the view to Melbourne City is awesome, but that is where it stopped. Our tasting was booked in so they knew that we had a group of 9 coming just prior to lunch. A man provided our tastings and it was so confusing. He even looked confused. He was calling Pinot Noir, Shiraz. Our tasting felt rushed and our whole group was disappointed. Especially after the reviews of Scotchmans Hill wines and our whole group drink lots of wine. I think that they missed out on some good purchases from our group.

I had booked in for the bistro in the Residence, I had received an email couple days after that the reservation was changed to bistro only but didn't think much of it.
Gorgeous day and set up at the winery we were seated outside. When asked to do wine tasting with our lunch lady told me it was only in the cellar door. I told her I originally booked for inside which she said they had a function so couldn't do it but gave us the option to have it after lunch. We agreed, we finished our lunch at 3.51pm (our booking was 2.15pm). We then asked to do the tasting which waitress said she would have to ask. A man came out from the cellar door to tell us he was closing at 4pm and he could do it for us outside where we were seated. It sounded like such an annoyance to him but we said thank you that would be good. Mind you we weren't the only people there and noticed couple of tables still inside the cellar door. Instead of pouring the wines for us and explaining them etc like you normally would get he explained one then the rest he just showed us the label on bottle, announced the wine and left. Was left to feel like we were a burden and an annoyance. Shouldn't have changed the booking on me without notifying me prior as the whole reason we booked was to do tastings and then to not be told what time they closed would have made us not take such a leisurely time on lunch.
Food was average, dessert was okay also. Got charged for extra crackers as bread. Disappointing experience

Went for what we thought would be a regular tasting but experienced a tasting event that was simply marvelous. And the wines - really fantastic also. Tasting plates with wines presented by an experienced knowledgeable host - a combination that we had not previously encountered. But will be back.

We visited here just after the relaxing of COVID 19 restrictions, so anxiety levels were still fairly high.
But we were soon put at rest, seeing the high level of precautions put in place, they were above and beyond our expectations.
Very friendly staff, great service and a good selection of their local wines made for a very enjoyable dining experience at such a unusual time.
Will definitely be back.

We have always wanted to go to Scotchmans Hill and finally achieved this on Sunday.
What a delight it was !
The main dining room was light , airy and cosy by the fire. We could talk to each other without cupping our ears and bellowing .
The food was exceptional , I had the beef cheeks and prawn toast for entree.
Excellent value for money and we were beautifully looked after by a lady who worked on her own with a number of tables .
Well done , we will return soon .
