Animals are well fed, & cared for, and totally loved by staff. $40 entry was great value.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 14 January 2024
- weary-traveller001Adelaide, Australia1,139 contributionsAbsolutely worth visitingThis is a great zoo, with lots of animals. I was suprised how big it was. Reasonably priced, large free parking area and a short drive out of Halls Gap. Very friendly keepers who were happy to answer questions and have a chat. There are many animal encounters that you can book into at an extra cost, also a well stocked gift shop. There are picnic tables and a playground and dinasour sculptures to entertain the kids.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 February 2024
- Bianca b10 contributionsZoo Keeper for a Day - The Best AdventureAMAZING!!! My husband and I did the Zoo Keeper for a day experience. From the first call through to the day everyone was so helpful and nothing was too hard. We had the most Amazing Day! We had the absolute pleasure of being guided by Tara, Jules, Lilly, Marcus and Steph. All of their knowledge on the animals they were looking after was second to none. They answered all of our questions and made us feel a part of the family at Halls Gap Zoo. These staff members are an absolute credit to the Zoo and we will definitely be back with our children. Thank you for an experience we will never forget.Visited February 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 March 2024
- Jackson M7 contributionsWe went to the zoo, zoo, zoo and you should go too, too, tooFantastic time for whole family. This zoo has really been upgraded since I was there 5 years ago. All the animals looked really healthy and the facilities were fantastic. Coffee Van a welcome addition. You can get so close to the animals, compared to a metropolitan zoo eg we were just a few metres away from the rhino. I would highly recommend buying a bag a feed and feeding the deer early in the day before they get over it all. We would certainly go againVisited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 April 2024
- Glenis Z24 contributionsGreat Zoo!Our second visit to this zoo. Well set out and a good variety of animals. Our favourites were the giraffes, rhinos, birds, otters and meercats. The red pandas were hiding :( Seniors price for admission. Easy to wander around for 2-3 hours.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 April 2024
- Colint50Morwell, Australia1,353 contributionsA busy day at the ZooA great day out and the animal encounters we booked made the day so much better. We booked the Red Panda and Meerkat experiences, and they were well worth the extra cost. There wasn't a rushed time with the Panda's or Meerkats and the zoo staff were excellent. After the experiences it's about a 2klm self-paced walk around the zoo path to see the other animals. Be aware there is very limited food and drinks available during the week, but a food van on weekends.Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 April 2024
- margiel88546 contributionsA great day out! This zoo was fantastic and was absolutely gorgeous being able to interact with the wallaby, deer, ducks and Guinea fowl. We bought 2 bags of food pellets but wasnt enough. We had so much fun!! The zoo had plenty to see and walking around was really nice. The paths were well maintained and clean, in fact the entire zoo was clean! We enjoyed this zoo visit very much and would highly recommend a visit for families, couples, singles. A great day out!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 24 May 2024

My partner and I spent the day exploring the Zoo & decided to do the Meerkat experience.
The animals are all well cared for and honestly was a much bigger Zoo than expected out in regional Victoria.
I would recommend the animal experience to anyone going, as it’s something you’ll never forget!

Having previously been to the Halls Gap Zoo took some family from overseas, We were 8 adults and 5 children being a hot day we didn’t see as many of the animals as we would have liked but that was understandable. Unfortunately we found the toilets and the zoo to be nearly unusable only if you were desperate the floor the only word to describe the ladies toilets was disgusting I was ashamed to take visitors in there. I have been in many outback and camping toilets over the years and unfortunately this spoilt an otherwise lovely family day.

We had been told about the zoo from many friends & family who had visited it. Animals & bird enclosures well set up, as natural as possible surroundings being in captivity. Loved the way the paths to enclosures lead one way through so you don't miss anything & don't double back on yourself. Friendly staff. This will be a work in progress for quite some time to come & as you go from one are to another, with some still being created, it makes you aware of the work involved in setting up an attraction like this. Excellent.

A great park inside the grampians that always growing and expanding.
Some friendly COVID advise.
Have restrictions in place to how many can visit your park at the one time to limit large gatherings. Very scary when there is long lines to get in with many people NOT wearing there masks like there suppose to. Such arrogance from many people in such a critically stage in the virus.
Sure you have a contact tracing form online. A small step in checking the form with there photo ID to verify there location wouldnt hurt to do. Would feel safer.
Otherwise the animals, staff and park was well kept. Cant wait to see what additional exhibit they have in store.

Some of the animals were clearly stressed out in particular The Rhino for one.
The prices for souvenirs were so high you would need a loan to buy them
The staff weren't interested in concerns of the public like asking them where the Giraffe enclose was who was also very agitated.
Entry at the time was far too high for location and what you get, don't forget, most of this Zoo is publicly and government funded.
When yo walk around, take note of the animals, have any been sedated?
Not all reviews should be positive, just an opinion based on observation and experience.

Knowing little about this zoo, we were very pleasantly surprized by it's size and quality. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the animals looked very healthy and happy. We wandered around for several hours.
You walk through an enclosure with a herd of various types of deer, which are always nuzzling you for food. (Food can be purchased at the kiosk for $2) There were some baby tamarins when we visited, which were cute.
The path goes all around the zoo, so you don't miss anything, although you are not compelled to follow it. We took plenty of photos, some of which are below.

There as seven of us in our group, and we all thoroughly enjoyed the three odd hours walking around checking out the animals, birds, and wildlife. You can buy animal food for $2 on the way in, and I recommend doing this and have some fun feeding the deer.
My only suggestion is there should be more seating as you walk around and maybe a little café half way where you can have a coffee while relaxing for 5mins.

Second visit here and it just gets better. The animals are all so well cared for. The enclosures are immaculate and any glass panels are spotlessly clean to allow for great photo opportunities. A must do is the Purchase of a bag of food for $2.00 from reception. There are so many opportunities to feed dear, kangaroos etc.

We were so lucky. We were there on the second day after a Covid lockdown in Victoria and so there weren't many visitors and the Meerkat experience was available. Normally it would be a good idea to book these 'experiences' which involve getting up close and personal with the animals. In the case of the meerkats, this involved going into their enclosure, sitting down and having them leap up onto our laps as we feed them. Marvellous.
So good in fact, that we went back the next day for the Cheetah Experience. Not so close this time but still a chance to find out more about the animals and feed them.

Ok so when you walk up it dosnt look like much and the zoo it's self is a small working zoo, but there animal experiences are just amazing. First one is free buy some food and fed the deer this is very cool but watch out for little ones as the deer are not shy. The picnic area is Awesome for kids and they have tables, chairs, shelter very well worth taking in a picnic. We payed to meet the Meerkats and rhinoceros, it was well worth the cost and amazing experience, up close and personal, they even send you photos via email of your experience included in the cost. I will be going back with family.

Do you have to make a booking in advance for an dingo or wombat encounter? Or is it possible to book when we arrive at the desk?
