A 21 metre tall memorial cross high on top of the Macedon range is worth a look on its own, but I suspect most people will go here (as we did) for the views. All the way down to Melbourne with the skyscrapers looking like...More

Went with our local Probus Club. We had a lovely lunch with fabulous views. Most went for a walk to the monument as it was a lovely clear day. Very interesting place with loads of information.

Getting too the memorial cross is half the fun.. Along the way stop at the numerous gardens. My favourite was Forest Glade. At the cross itself it’s a easy walk and also accessible for wheelchairs. Great views and an awe inspiring giant cross. The cafe...More

The Memorial Cross, with its magnificent view, is only a short walk from the Mount Macedon carpark next to the cafe. The cross is a couple of hundred metres away from the peak, but the view is possible because the surrounding trees are cleared. There...More

Lovely Short Walk down to Memorial Cross with Great Views. Unfortunately the surrounding Forest will soon block out most of the views as it continues to grow and regenerate.

In the region for a day trip we did the detour off the main road and went to the top. An easy access view point for those of all ages.

A great walk from Bawden road. Not suitable for prams etc. if your keen, keep walking to Camels Hump, then around to Mt Towrong, then back down to the Mt pub or Trading post for a snack.

Rising up out of the flat rural landscape, the Macedon Ranges have a range of short walking trails suitable for the whole family (and the dog). Naturally dogs must be on a lead as wombat droppings are abundant. For the laziest, the walk from the...More

Not only Mt Macedon has history and gardens, it is located nice and high on the hill that one can see from many miles away! It is high enough to attract snow sometimes! What I like about Mt Macedon area is the bush walking opportunities...More

You know that Hanging Rock and Mt Macedon are not the same place? Although they are only a few kms apart. It’s an hour each way from Melbourne. A good walk to the top of the hill at Hanging Rock and a wander along the... More
