The craftsman ship in this chimney is outstanding - how on earth did they do this so perfectly? There is no information there which is disappointing. I had my brother there to explain how the old gold mines work so I had commentary. I feel...More

The chimney has some interesting mining holes and machinery foundations nearby, but you would need a brochure from the Info Centre to really understand what you are looking at. The site is on the Maldon-Castlemaine Trail (walking and cycling) and does offer great views to...More

we visited out of curiosity but could not find much info as to what the chimney was originally for...other than something to do with the mines. The very informative Info Centre man told us it had been struck by lightning and they had employed a...More

The chimney is clearly visible at the top end of Maldon town. There is evidence of golden days from a bygone era with lots of building foundations and several other ruins. A walking path allows you to safely navigate your away around the former gold mining...More

An interesting stop beside the meandering walking path between the Maldon Railway Station and the Maldon township. Basically the remnants of the old Beehive Mine. The chimney is very well preserved and stands tall and imposing beside the path. Around the chimney you can see...More

This attraction is really just a big brick chimney with a few other old mining ruins nearby. I still enjoyed stopping for a quick look, but there isn't much to see. There are some nice walking/cycling tracks around it though which make for a good...More

Some walking paths have just been put down by the looks of it, but apart from the chimney, there's not much to see in my opinion.

Set at the top of the Main Street in a small parkland area; it is a pretty little walk, a little rough for those who are not steady on their feet, but it is just a large chimney, albeit a tall and historic one.

Lots of history here in regards to early mining days in Australia. It could do with a few more information boards with more history about the site

An interesting site which gives a brief insight into historic Maldon. The chimney is impressive, sitting on the hilltop next to building foundations and ruined mines. It would be nice to get some interpretation on site to explain to visitors what they are looking at.
