The Barrabool State Forrest is untouched bushland as experienced by the original settlers to the Murtoa area. Easily accessed and gives you a feel of what the farmers had to tame to exist. Look for a few waterholes in the area as well.

Another spot in the wimmera that most people don't know exists. 16 mins south of murtoa and approx 25 mins from Horsham. I like to head there in winter because that's the best time to spot the numerous species of honeyeaters that call this place...More
