Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is part of the Ship Wreck Coast along the Great Ocean Road. It is nearer the end beyond Port Campbell so less well visited than the Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge etc. it is worth the effort. You can get into the beach down a few steps.

Visited in September 2021, exiting Winter. The southern swells roared.
IMHO this is near the best spot on Great Ocean Road (even marking its western entrance).
Amazing rock features, bay design and wild-bashed beach. Nature at stormy best.
Looked rearward to see some lucky few 2-storey houses beyond the road captured this daily view of wonder.

My wife and I drove here to enjoy the spectacular views during our recent holiday in Lorne. It took a long drive to get here from Lorne.

We parked our car here and went walking along the tracks on to the beach. Later, we walked to Worm Bay, around 100 meters from here.

Bay of Martyrs was our last stop on the Great Ocean Road. Large bay with many rock formations along the shoreline make for a pretty sight. Not as stunning as some of the other stops but expansive in scale.

The view here is spectacular! The walk is also not strenuous. I wanted to walk the whole way from Bay of Martyr to Peterborough, but we only did half the walk in the end. However, It is worth coming again to do the whole walk.

Peterborough is just a small town but offers a stunning beach and rocky coastline rich in colour and formation. The Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands finishes off the Great Ocean Road in fine form an worthy of a stop and the end of a long day.

If you have time Warrnambool is an interesting overnight stop with a beachfront promenade that hugs a long clean beach making it a very pleasant stroll. The town itself has lots of historic buildings so pick up a free guide as it is good to wander around for an hour.

However, pretty Port Fairy is the jewel filled with charm and all round good vibe. Again pick up a free guide to walk the wonderful historic buildings which have been and are key in telling Victoria's story. The river is a pleasant setting for a coffee or lunch stop before heading off to Griffin Island which is an easy walk. It has a nice lighthouse, an interesting coastline and some wildlife which will please the photographers out there.

Further on is Portland which again has a collection of historic monuments, but it is really the jumping off point for the stunning Cape Bridgewater. This is great place to stop for a while to enjoy the spectacular scenery and take the short walk to the petrified forest and blowholes.

THANKS for the vote if you found this useful. Happy travels.

The Bay of Martyrs is only a few kilometres past the bridge of the Peterborough coastal reserve heading towards Warrnambool.

The Bay is only a short distance from the Bay of Islands as well.

This area is full of reefs, limestone stacks and beach access is available at the eastern end of the carpark.

Another picturesque spot along the Great Ocean Road. Good for a 30-min stop. If you are lucky to be there on a fine day, the view is spectacular.

A local suggested this location for a sunset photo - they were right.
Although it was cold, wet and freezing - my husband & I spent more than an hour to get these photos.
A must stop and see .....
