The Lotz House, and specifically, the Battle of Franklin tour by Thomas Cartwright was quite informative and extremely well presented. The sheer volumes of stories, quotes and information was appreciated and how well versed he was made it a memorable morning. Highly recommend the battlefield...More

A sobering experience of the perils of the Civil War. Each visit I've learned something new. Be sure to buy the value tickets for the Carnton Plantation, Lotz and Carter Houses. Wear walking shoes. To visit all allow 4-5 hours-time well spent.

This is the first time we have done a guided tour of a battlefield and it is well worth the investment of time and money. Given how the town of Franklin has grown up around the battlefield and taken most of it, without the tour...More

This is a tour you can take on your own or schedule a bus tour. We went on our own and decided which stops we wanted to make. The home tour (missing the name from my memory right now) with the cemetery where the Battle...More

Do not miss Thomas Cartwright's guided tour. A local legend and national treasure, Thomas drags you into the fury of the battle and locates the listener the importance of where he/she is standing. Bald, visual, visceral history. Older kids and adults. A+++

You will definitely need more time to visit the whole battlefield. Maybe a two to three day stay nearby. The museum was fantastic. The best museum I have ever visited.

We stopped by the site of the Battle of Franklin for a place to take a walk with our dogs and for interest in the history. It is a beautiful place to walk, with placards around the walk that detail the Battle of Franklin. Very...More

This was an unexpected gem. The whole day from the minute we were picked up to being dropped off was marvellous. All the guides were so well informed and passionate about their individual parts of the day. Our driver was fantastic and equally well informed...More

I believe you can walk up and schedule the tours but you would need to check on the hours of operation.
