Appreciating Johnny Cash a bit more
I learned a lot about Johnny Cash here; made me like him more. It’s a small museum so can feel a bit crowded depending on when you go. Depending on how much you read or listen to here it will keep you out of the Honky Tonks for about an hour 😉.

    Great museum.
Great museum. Johnny Cash was one of a kind and this museum does him justice. Very interesting. Really enjoyed learning more about this man. He was really intelligent and generous; much more than his music. He had his struggles but he was a man of principal.

Enjoyed Johnny Cash Exhibits but Patsy Cline Costs Extra
We have both been life long fans of both Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. To visit the Johnny Cash section of the museum cost $28 per person including tax. We were shocked to discover that it would have cost the same again if we wanted to visit the Patsy Cline section of the museum. So disappointingly we decided to just visit the Johnny cash section. We really enjoyed the tour of the Johnny Cash Exhibits which were really interesting and enjoyable.

    A great surprise!
Smaller museum devoted to the life and music of Johnny Cash, the Man in Black! Several videos showing his movies and TV appearances as well as great displays of his records, family life and other achievements. My husband loved it and he’s not a country music fan! It was a surprise to find and is very well done!
We are so glad you enjoyed it!

    What a man!
I didn’t grow up listening to Johnny Cash but I enjoy his music more and more as time goes by. This museum does a great job of covering his wide array of experiences and talents. Can’t believe he died at 71 — he did and lived so much! Lots of places to watch videos and listen to music. If you’re claustrophobic, be aware that it’s a fairly tight space. Really enjoyed it
    Thanks for joining us!

    Fun little museum
This is a small but interesting museum. We finished it in an hour…we had two teenagers who do not know Johnny Cash’s music at all but they were interested in the information. Would have loved some more multi media aspects as opposed to so much reading. Loved the exhibit on all the people who have covered his music. It was fun to hear all the variations. It’s a bit expensive, but still worth it!

We're fans, so had to go
Easy to find just off of Broadway and this museum shares the same building as the Patsy Cline Museum. Plenty to see in here with loads of information and memorabilia. The chair in which he sat to perform the 'Hurt'video is very poignant and for us the cushion with the 'Rose of my Heart' message is very special. If you are a Johnny Cash fan, or not, it is definitely worth visiting. Memorable!!
    We appreciate your recommendation!

    Interesting, worth the visit
The museum is pricey, but you truly get an in depth education on the life of Johnny Cash. There are lots of stations to listen to his music. They have furniture from his house, lots of costumes and various artifacts from his life. It's a nice break for a bad weather day.
Thank you for your wonderful feedback and for joining us at the museum!

    Man in black
Tons of original artifacts hand written letters and original items. Lots to read and learn. It's a little pricey but not horrible. The only negative it the audio stations only have one head phone. A qr scan and listen would be a great upgrade.

I was very excited to visit the Johnny Cash museum especially being a big fan of his music. I learned a lot more about him than I had expected and it was very cool to see the sheer amount of work this guy did in his career. The first part of the museum was a bit on the crowded side but as you went thru it spread people out a bit. You can take as much as time you would like here so slow down and enjoy. It was priced fairly reasonably at $23/adult and overall we left happy and bought some stuff in the gift shop as well. If you are a fan this is a must do and if you are not it's still really cool to see how much this guy did in his life. Impressive.

Even though we are not Country Music Fans we all new that we had to go here. Admission price is just over $23 but Seniors receive a discount. On Third Ave just off Broadway. WE were surprised by the pure number of people in the museum as well as the store/cafe in front. The Johnny Cash Bar & Restaurant is next door. The museum was very Interesting with all different artifacts relating to the Life and Times of Johnny Cash. Through his 2 marriage's , his children, the Carter Family, His Gold Records, all the different movies he was in, the different stars that performed with him, some of his guitars, posters, clothes, posters etc. We spent over 2 hours here and I would recommend this as a place to visit while in Nashville. The Patsy Cline Museum is in the same building on the next level

If you come down the ramp from the pedestrian bridge, you cannot miss this museum as it is a striking red brick building with huge white letters, saying Johnny Cash Museum. It is a rather small space, but filled with a large collection of photographs and artifacts belonging to the music icon. You can purchase tickets on line but if you do you will not get any discounts (senior, AAA) and there is an additional service charge. To get the discounts you have to buy tickets at the door. If you are a fan of Mr. Cash, who isn't, it is a good place to visit. It is small though.

Admission was $20 for about 3 rooms of exhibits, small font text describing his life and accomplishments and a fair amount of filler on other performers Cash worked with. I found out much more about his life on Wikipedia than at this museum. So so gift shop.

I learned lots of things I didn't know about Cash. There's much about him that was assumed because of the Joaquin Phoenix movie but I didn't realize how much he acted nor his philanthropic efforts. For a casual fan and the size of the museum, the price is a bit high. Was crazy crowded on the day we visited because of the bowl game and that may have detracted from the overall value on the cost too.

On previous visits to Nashville the Museum was very busy and I skipped it. This time I came early in the morning and there was no crowd.

You enter into a gift shop area so you have to go the counter to purchase a ticket to enter the actual museum. Very casual inside, I had a great chat with the greeter who really knew his music history. He informed me that the "One Piece At A Time" car is not located here but just outside of the city. I was hoping that was here. Next time.

To be clear I'm more Rock n Roll than Country. Inside the museum is loaded with artifacts and information. It is laid out very well and you can spend as much time as you want. There were so many interesting items in here but the one the struck me the most was the final "Hurt" display. Probably because I was by myself. It was great being there without anyone around.

Overall I had a great visit and I'm happy that I made a special stop to see this. I recommend it for any music fan.

We attended the Johnny cash museum during our visit to Nashville. I honestly didn’t know much about Johnny Cash, but I found the artifacts interesting and I learned a lot about him. There are a few interactive sections where you can listen to his music. It takes 1hr to 1 1/2 to make your way thought it.

The only downfall was the layout of the museum, it is very tight inside and they overpacked the museum making it hard to read artifacts and see exhibits because they were letting in too many people in at one time. Unlike the country music hall of fame, which was very spacious.

I would recommend the museum but try to avoid going at peak times, if possible. It is open later in the evening than other museums in the area.

A small museum that’s a must see if you are a Johnny Cash fan or just someone who wants to learn a bit more about the man after seeing the film Walk the Line.

Although it is small, it crams quite a bit of memorabilia, history, and most importantly music into it. Not just items about the Man in Black either—there are things Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others as well. It’s hard to believe that all of those legends were not only contemporaries but knew each other and toured together as well.

It’s one knock in my opinion is it’s a little expensive for it’s size (about $20 and it takes just over an hour to go through it all).

The Johnny Cash Museum was on my to-do list for a recent trip to Nashville, TN. The display covered Johnny's career from start to finish and beyond. Even as a life long Johnny Cash fan, I learned much at the museum, on family history, his Faith and his inspiration for others, even those in prison and disadvantaged. Really enjoyed the section of short clips of Johnny's movies and old time videos of him performing songs.

Small and a bit cramped but worth visiting. Tons of artifacts from his career. Was so crowded that it would have been nice to be able to spend more time really reading and seeing the artifacts. Recommend going at off hours so you can really spend some time. Worth it despite the crowds.
