After the outstand show we attended with the Coasters, Platters and Drifters we were looking forward to Motown, Dancing in the Streets. We had great seats close to the stage in the orchestra section.

That is where our expectations for a great evening ended. Three singers took the stage and were not near the caliber of the other show I mention. It seemed cobbled together and felt like the three performers had never performed together before. In fact, as they came to the stage one of the male singers was fixing the other one's collar.

They mostly performed solo with one or 2 sitting off to the side while the other one sang. Their clothing was less than appealing. Shoes unshined, clothing too tight, just so unpolished for the symphony. They each told a personal story that was nice. I don't doubt these are talented, good people, they maybe need to rehearse together more and perform as a group more as well.

The other big problem was the sound. The symphony orchestra was too loud. It drowned out the singers. We also could have done without the intermission. They performed 20 songs, with 1 or 2 of the singers sitting on a stool off to the side, many shows can do that without a break. The people next to us were betting what the encore would be. No need, there wasn't one.

Maybe if we had paid $30.00 for our tickets like Paula O we would not have felt so cheated. The seats she mentioned seem interesting, except you can't see the singers. Maybe if she could she might not have been so happy.

We will never go to another show like this again. Only established groups for us in the future.

Excellent concert hall. Acoustics and seating are excellent. First time to come here. This is a very nicely done new hall made to look like it was from 100 years ago. Really enjoyed the symphony and acrobatic performances

First visit here but hopefully not the last. Went to see a favorite artist who was performing with the Nashville Symphony. The venue is not huge and the sound is wonderful. I don’t know how many people it hold but it was full and never felt crowded. They have bars in many places and the prices are comparable to other live music venues.
Beautiful evening at a beautiful venue.

This was our first time to the Schermerhorn & were so fortunate to score tickets to the free Nashville Symphony Chorus, "Voices of Spring". It was a really unique experience and a chance to take a look at the inside of this gorgeous building. We couldn't believe our luck in getting seats in the box right beside the stage. It was like being right on the stage, we were so close to the performers. The performance was 2 hrs. long and was truly unique. A nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Went in November 2014 and saw the Cotton Club Band. Very good sat in the 4th row floor area. Rows 1-4 very close to the stage and you have to keep looking up instead of just straight ahead. Best rows if doing floor level are 6-10.
Parking very expensive especially on Saturday nights so park over by Broadway and pay about $10.
My husband loved the 4th row but I did not want to see so much spit lol
Take advantage of complimentary coat checks. Also cocktails available for purchase.

Perhaps if you go there for a symphony, it may be alright. We went there for the Lyle Lovett show last night. We saw him on same tour 3 nights prior in West Virginia and had a blast that we still smile about. At Schermerhorn, I couldn't recommend it. The building is beautiful but although parking is wide open in mostly empty lots, several still wanted $20?! to park. That's robbery, ended up having to pay 16$ in the end. Symphony Center was easy on the eyes and beautiful to look at but it seemed like (unlike other Lyle tour dates) most people there had no idea who they were there seeing. They talked all around us through the whole show, had crinkly food products and one female couple in front of us spent the whole show making out, laughing and grabbing each other. One of the two kept holding up her camera taking pics, video then texting. I don't know why people like this come to a show. You can't sit still for 2 hours? The alcohol pushing there seem to make EVERYone loud and obnoxious as well as slurping down drink and shaking aroung plastic cups with ice in our ears. Talking to these people did no good. The center made strong announcements against cell phone usage being banned but That and certainly stopped VERY few. The ushers never bothered to enforce the rules and the flashes and playing were VERY distracting.Try to get your sources to enforce some rules and make people comfortable Schermerhorn. We paid too much money for those seats to have a frat party atmosphere/. Lovett was good but even just 12 rows back, his voice wasn't as strong. I live near Knoxville so, that was a long ride that I wish we had never made.

An unbelievable venue for a wedding. A spectacular stage for what it should be for a symphony. Very spacious floor space and more than ample for 300 plus people. Staff was as good as you can expect from such a wonderful venue.

Travelled especially to hear the classical compositions of one of my favorite rock stars from the past (Kip Winger). What a treat to meet several season ticket holders and experience the preconcert lecture with Giancarlo Guerrero with Kip Winger! My box seats were spectacular and the drinks were superb. I will definitely visit again. There are no bad seats in the house, but you will not be disappointed in sitting in the box seats - you'll feel like royalty! Parking was just across the street and the box office can help you with that. The box office people were so very nice! It was truly a memorable evening on all counts!

Visited the Schermerhorn to see Matthew Morrison sing with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Not only was the concert hall absolutely beautiful, with fabulous acoustics, the orchestra was truly amazing. If you need a quick break from the country music scene, go to a concert there and hear this beautiful group of extremely talented musicians.
