My 4 year-old daughter was incredibly scared to ride and Michael was extremely supportive. He convinced her to ride, offered to “press a magic slow button” to slow the ride down, then told her that if she liked it the family (3 of us) could all ride again for free AND would by her a t-shirt.
She loved it so much! Michael delivered on his promise; we rode around a second time and then he surprised her with a t-shirt!
This place is AWESOME!

My 9-year-old has always been afraid of roller coasters, so I was a little tentative to suggest trying out a mountain coaster on our trip to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. But the idea of being able to control her speed and not having any huge drops or loops made her feel a lot more comfortable giving it a try. And in the end, she and the rest of our family LOVED it and took a second ride immediately! She didn’t even use the brake on the second time! We’ll definitely come back to Rocky Top the next time we’re in the area, and we’ll be looking to try out other mountain/alpine coasters as well.

Our family of 13 ages 10-65 went here twice in one day and had a blast!! We went on a Wednesday afternoon and didn’t wait long at all! The ride is about 9 mins long and has several sections of climbing and zooming!! We wanted to experience the ride at night as well so we came back around 7 for the second ride discounted tickets! Again, not a long wait and sooooo cool to do at night. Of course it was cold so I would recommend wearing gloves but nothing unbearable!! We had a great time. Will definitely do it again when we come back to the area!!

Visited Pigeon Forge after Christmas and rode several mountain coasters in the area (after exeperiencing our first in the Austrian Alps last year). Rocky Top was a fun mountain coaster experience and boasts one of the longer tracks in the area. It also has some tunnels and fun theming that makes it stand out. However, this is one of the more pricey coasters in Pigeon Forge, and it’s also the only coaster we visited with a looooong line (1.5 hour wait). Even when we returned in the morning right after opening, there was a half hour wait. Its proximity to Dollywood theme park and resorts might play a role in the length of the queue. The coaster is worth a short wait but not worth a long one — you can ride multiple other coasters in the area that are just as good or better with less of a wait.

Thank you for your review of Rocky Top mountain coaster in Pigeon Forge. It's great to hear that you enjoyed the fun experience and the longer track, as well as the tunnels and theming. However, it's unfortunate that the coaster is one of the more expensive options in the area and had a long wait time, even in the morning. It's understandable that its proximity to Dollywood and resorts may contribute to the queue length. Your advice to not wait too long for this coaster and explore other options with shorter waits is helpful for future visitors. #KeepOnCoastin

A little costly, but a $3 discount coupon helped. The ride lasts over 9 minutes with 4 hills. It's better to ride in the dark when they have the ride lit up. The ride is themed, so there is stuff to look at. Best coaster ride compared to the other mountain coasters in the area. I recommend riding before Dollywood lets out at 9:30, as it will get real busy after that.

It was fun!! One of the most exciting places out of our visit. Double riders are available for young children but, have to be Accompanied by a person 16 years old and up. $60 total for my family additional rides are $9 per person.

Most fun we’ve ever had waiting in an attraction line. The employees were dressed in costume, scaring patrons while waiting. It was a riot and very family friendly.
Coaster itself was so thrilling. I want to say it was a good 8-10 minute ride.
We went after dark which added to the spookiness. Would love to see during daylight next time.
Highly recommend!

Family of 4, ages 6 and 8 =$45 w/ coupon. Both girls rode in our laps, why isn't each car $18. We went at night and it was pretty cool lit up, the girls enjoyed the 9 minute ride, but most of that is spent going up on several occasions. I personally have never gone on one of these, but have heard how fun they are. Several people have told me how fast they are and how you don't have to hit the brake the whole way down ... Unfortunately this one was a start-and-stop coaster. Too bad a for a family to do anything, you better have won the lottery.

We've ridden just about every mountain coaster and thrill ride in the Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg area and would rate this one the best. It is a relatively new properly, so every thing is brand new and well designed. A little outside of town, but easily accessible with plenty of parking. The coaster is much more than meets than eye, with the majority of the track being behind the mountain and out of view from the parking lot. Unlike other coasters that just take you to the top and you ride down once, this coaster has 4 ups and 4 downhill sections and I would agree with their advertising that it is probably the longest ride in the area. The workers were very friendly and helpful, especially for new riders. Much kudos to the workers as this was the only coaster I saw where they were actually sanitizing the carts after every ride. Well done!

This is the best attraction in Pigeon Forge by far. We tried several other area coasters, and they just do not compare. This one has 4 drops, and it is 9 minutes long, which means that it is the best value. In addition, the people that run the ride are phenomenal. I have a special needs son, and they made him feel like family. The workers are loving, kind, interactive, and you can tell that they love what they do!!!! The views are stunning. The experience was so magical that we rode it 12 times during our vacation. My four year old was obsessed. While most of our rides were during the day, we also rode it at night, and the lights were really neat. I’m so glad that we came here. Don’t miss this incredible ride.

Yes they have single and double rider carts with safety belts. We saw lots of kids enjoying the coaster with adults.

How do you get to Top of coaster? Stairs? Lift ?? Ect
How exactly does the rider control the speed ?

You are on the coaster and it takes you up on a conveyor, like a rollercoaster. It will pull you up.

Is there an outdoor sitting/waiting area for those of us who are not riding? If so, would my small dog be able to sit with me while we wait?
Written 5 July 2022
Yes, there is a really nice area. Also, you can get drinks/snacks.

I don't know, but I don't see why not. The restraint is just like a car's seatbelt, (3-point), and the ride is not touch our jerky.
Written 19 July 2019
It's not as fast as a roller coaster at Dollywood, so if you can handle those, you'd do fine on any of the mountain coasters. The top speed is about 35mph. You don't get G-Force, just speed.
