My husband and I visited the state park during December. We first stopped at the visitor center, whish had a nice museum with information on the flora, fauna, history and geography. Then we drove up the mountain and parked at Carver's Gap. We hiked up the side of the bald and the view was magnificent!! Never seen such gorgeous views... More

This is a wonderful park! The hikes were good and the pool very refreshing. We stayed on the upper loop in the trees, with a narrow road. Near the office is a loop that is more level. There are trees, just not in the woods. Spacious sites and a grassy field. A creek divides the campground loops and it is... More

If you want a place to get away from it all that is close by to any of the Tri-Cities this is a great choice. Roan Mountain has many beautiful sites and sounds from the mountain peaks with views afar, to the wonderful fishing of the Doe River, or the outstanding Rhododendron Gardens blooming in the Spring. I can't forget... More

We spent two nights in the Roan Mountain State Park cabins after Christmas. We were on a road trip from Chicago on a tour of the Southeast and wanted to experience the Appalachian Mountains while hiking a portion of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.). The cabins were absolutely surreal - something out of a travel magazine! They were perfect in every... More

Roan Mountain State Park is in far eastern Tennessee. Roan Mountain is in North Carolina. Someday I would like to return to RMSP and stay in one of the cabins there. Roan Mountain itself is a magical place on top of the world. As you reach the top of the mountain, you will see multiple mountain ranges come into view... More

Spent Thanksgiving here in our RV and were very comfortable. Good hot showers, free wifi, and lots of great hiking. Rangers were especially helpful. The camp sites were level though a bit close together if the campground were full. Well maintained and pleasant place to camp.

Our extended family spent three nights in the cabins at Roan Mountain State Park and had a wonderful time. Cabins are close enough to feel very connected yet they give each family plenty of privacy so to feel the camp experience. The cabins were very clean and cozy, temperatures were 30's at night. A wood burning stove was centrally located... More

Very good place for Woodfired oven Pizza. We have enjoyed Pizza, bread, and cookies from there. The owner is very knowledgeable about Woodfired ovens.
