- ChrisHFrederick, Maryland551 contributionsUnique zooTwo adults visited here in late September 2023 and enjoyed ourselves. We spent maybe three or so hours here but we like to read the information placards describing the animals. Lots of families with small children here that seemed to be enjoying themselves. Several exhibits that appeared to be empty and others with no information placards. That was disappointing considering the ticket price. Definitely a good activity for a rainy day except if you want to feed the goats outside for $3 per small bag of feed. We were told no tours or shows are available unless you are a school group. First time seeing a “herd” of guinea pigs in a large enclosure that seemed absolutely happy. Probably about 50 of them running around.Visited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 October 2023
- Christy T24 contributionsNothing but fun and close to everything. You are truly surprised when you get going in this safari. So many cure, beautiful animals. They have toucans. I could sit for hours talking to them. I know a little crazy. You'll see lemurs, Huge snakes, lizards (big lizards), monkeys. You can touch and play with the guinea pigs, feed goats and sheep (very fun for the kids) once they get past the initial I'm scared...have fun and learn a lot. The younger guy walks around with animals every now and then. But, he knows a lot. Pick his brain. Have a great time. Very nice Hiliday Inn next to it along with a movie theater. Great restaurants. Sunriver Diner is about 5 minutes down the road. But, it's always pretty busy on the main drag.Visited November 2023Travelled with familyWritten 6 November 2023

He sings row row row your boat. We also enjoy the goats in the outdoor area. They are cute and funny and love the food. You can purchase some at the front for 3.00. Everyone was friendly. They also have axolotls for sale. They had all sizes. So cute! It is worth a walk through. We spent an hour but you could spend longer for sure.Visited February 2024Travelled with familyWritten 5 February 2024
- dakotaballenLondon, Kentucky18 contributionsFamily Friendly AtmosphereThis discovery was a delightful surprise, offering a more interactive experience compared to the grandeur of The Knoxville Zoo. Despite its modesty, the attraction's affordability and accessibility were commendable. Visiting on a Sunday proved advantageous, as it was less crowded, allowing us to explore the entire exhibition without disruptions. My three-year-old particularly enjoyed engaging with the sheep, goats, and emus. The staff's exceptional friendliness and assistance further enhanced our visit. I highly recommend this venue for families seeking a tranquil outing without the hustle and bustle of typical tourist destinations.Visited April 2024Travelled with familyWritten 15 April 2024
- Candyman9376 contributionsKids loved itWent with my wife and two kids (8, 18 months) Wasn't too crowded and the staff was very friendly. Both kids thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of the animals but according to the 8yr old getting to feed the goats was the best! Place isn't huge so it won't take a terribly long time to see everything they have to offer but it was worth the visit.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 24 August 2024

I’ll remember cash next time (he deserves a tip!) Animals seemed well cared for, no distress, very clean.Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 3 September 2024

On Sunday 7/17/22 myself, my mom, my husband, my kids and my grandkids drove from Frankfort, KY to your facility to enjoy the day. When we 1st walked in, there was a woman standing there, not sure if she was a greeter or what. One of my grandkids which is 8 made a comment about the smell of the animals. Your employee looked at her and said well atleast you get air conditioning, you cant have it all. I thought to myself that was rude, but anyways I went on and didnt say anything. Then she tells me she needs to see my tickets, so I handed them to her and told her one of my grandkids didnt get to come so we need to upgrade one of our child tickets to an adult ticket and pay the difference. She says ok. Then she goes around our group and ask each kid how old they are. She starts with one of my granddaughters which just turned 12, then she goes to the next one and she says she is 13, so on and so on. She gets to my 12 year old son and when he tells her he is 12 (which he is) your employee looks at him and says there is no way, you look older than 12. Then she goes back to my first granddaughter and says your 13, I said no she is 12 and your employee raises her voice at me and says she just told me she is 13, she doesnt know how old she is. I said she is 12 and she is 13. She literally starts yelling at my granddaughter like she is grown accusing her of saying she was 13 the first time she ask. Then she looks at my family and says well lets start over and let me line you up like a school grade class and we will go through your ages again. At that point I was done. Ive never been so disrespected in my life in a business. That woman should have been fired on the spot. Needless to say we drove 4 hours for nothing because there was no way I would have ever let my family go through your zoo after that.

After looking at the reviews, we were excited to visit. It wasn’t long after entering that I immediately regretted it. There were pros and cons, with the cons outweighing the pros. Some of the enclosures were adequate and the majority of the animals looked healthy. The guinea pigs had room to run with was a plus. My issue is with how dirty and disgusting the enclosures were and the inadequate care that I saw with my own eyes. We went at 10 AM, they opened at 9 AM. It was obvious most of the enclosures has not been cleaned for days. As a snake, ferret, hedgehog and leopard gecko owner, I am appalled at the lack care these specific animals received. You are not supposed to cohabitate hedgehogs or leopard geckos. There were two hedgehogs in the same enclosure and I believe I counted five leopard geckos in a small enclosure. The ferrets had no enrichment, had wire ladders and a water bottle, all of these are not good for ferrets. Then there was the diet but that is a whole separate conversation. The snake enclosures had shed that has been there for a while along with feces. The blue tongue skinks’ enclosures were way too small. The Tegu enclosure had a decaying bird of some kind in it (they do eat chicks so that could be it) so that is proof the enclosure has not been cleaned. In one of the lemur enclosures, there was a white feeder mouse that seemed to have escaped. The outside animals (emus, sheep, and goats) were left to lay, sleep, eat and drink in their own urine and feces. There was so much matted wool and bodily fluids on most of the sheep. The mice and rats were in too small of enclosures and were cramped. The mother rats had absolutely no privacy or anywhere to hide their young.
I did inform the woman at the register about the two health issues I saw with two specific animals and she seemed to care and actually take it into consideration. She did state one of the ferrets were new, as it was surrendered which brings me to my next issue. If an animal is new, it needs to be quarantined, and if an animal is sick then it should not be on display.
Absolutely disgusted and disappointed. Do better. Google is free. It seems this place would rather acquire all these animals instead of providing adequate care for them.

One of the coolest animal encounters in the area, at under $20/ticket! We are locals and discovered this spot from a list of things to do in Sevierville. We have visited Parrot Mountain and Zoo Knoxville frequently, and this was a totally different experience. From exotic birds and mammals to beautiful reptiles and amphibians, and everything in between, there is something for everyone. We loved watching the baby primates playing. It wasn’t overly crowded when we visited, so the keeper let us watch him feed the lemurs some treats, and even let us hold Beetlejuice, the California King Snake. The habitats were very clean and I could tell they put a lot of effort into the animals’ well-being. It was a fun and memorable experience. We will definitely be back!

This was my 3rd trip to Rainforest Adventures because I absolutely love the animals. There are a few I feel so sorry for in there like the birds and the monkey, I find myself going back just to check on them. However, this place is expensive for a Family! I think considering its small they should add a family admission discount for RETURN customers. 2nd, the odor is bad and hits you when you walk in the door. 3rd and the worst.. they have this worker that is the rudest worker I’ve ever met in my life. There’s only one, all the others are nice, especially the girls up front. This guy is always toward the end screaming at people petting the guinea pigs. He has found a reason to yell or make a smart remark to me every time I have been in there.
Go, enjoy the animals but beware of the male employee that’s the rudest person alive. 😊

Stopped here on our way out of town. Both boys 6 and 12 loved the experience. We saw several animals that we have not seen on multiple zoo trips. We enjoyed feeding the goats and sheep as well. Took a little over an hour to go through all the areas. This place was much bigger than expected. It was really fun.

This is a very small zoo, but very well-kept and has a lot of interesting animals. It’s a great place to go when it’s raining because it is mostly indoors. There is a section outside with goats and sheep that you can feed. The cockatoos are in an open area in the center and they are very entertaining! If you spend the time to stand there and talk to them, they eventually start talking and being very funny. The workers are very friendly and quick to answer any questions you may have.

This is a definite must go to place. The kids, my husband and myself really enjoyed this cute place! You will fall in love with the cockatoo named Jeffery. He’s 52 years old and is the sweetest little guy. Depending on the time you go you may even see the worker preparing the food for the animals and watch them as they feed them! There is a lot of interaction things to do with certain pets, like petting the Guinea pigs, and feeding the goats and sheep. The workers are genuine and kind and they are very passionate about their job. For those wanting to visit here or may please be mindful of the gates they have up for your protection and for the sake of the animals too! Don’t hesitate on if you should go here or not, trust me you do! Their gift shop is reasonable too unlike most of the many stores and gift shops in other places. This was a little easier on the wallet! I even broke my shoe while walking and the worker made sure that I was not injured or bite by any of the animals. He then gave my husband and I duct tape to fix my shoe until we were able to leave to head back to our home state.

Hubby and I loved it! I loved seeing all the monkeys and lemurs. They got rid of the tiger looking animal because people complained about the smell. Ridiculous. Only took us about 45 minutes to go thru but I enjoyed it. Taxes are 20 percent. We had 2 dollars off each ticket and it made it 12.99 a person and we still paid $30 !

My family and I went here today 10/29. We happened to find this hidden gem a few years ago and try to make it a constant on our family vacations. It’s an excellent place to visit, especially if the weather isn’t good.
The animals are healthy and happy. They are usually active and playful every time we visit. My daughter loved the large birds that could talk. One was walking around singing “Row, Row, Row your boat”. The staff is always friendly. Great indoor zoo and we will definitely be back!

Is this something to do on a rainy day or is it mostly outside?
Written 26 August 2019
I went when it was raining and it was perfect! It's all inside except the feeding area outside which does have a cover, so you can still feed the goats in the rain.
Written 26 August 2019
How long does it take to go through on average. I know it's probably at your own pace. However its always good to know a little deeper in detail when you have toddlers in tow.
Written 20 February 2019
We have older kids but were about an hour and a half, they were into feeding the goats etc. The baby may not be as engaged, could be quicker
Written 20 February 2019
is this suitable for 2 adults or is it geared more toward children?

I keep reading on here about shows but can't find any info. What type of shows do they offer? Is there a schedule somewhere of the show times?
Written 25 June 2018
We were unaware about any shows when we arrived but one of the employees informed us about it as we were walking around. It was not for school groups when we went. There were many families there, and it appeared to be for anyone who wanted to stay and view the show. The animals were great and available for touching but the guy doing the show ruined it with his "humor".

Is the Zoo handicap accessible? My husband rides an electric scooter.
Written 15 May 2017
How long do we need to enjoy this? I noticed it closes at 5:00 and we wouldn't be there till 3:00. If we need more than 2 hours we will wait until tomorrow.
Written 26 January 2017
I agree with some others, 2 hours is enough time to see it all, but not sure there would be a show that late in the day and that was a lot of fun, and the gift shop is neat too, to browse. I just hate to be rushed, so if you can go another day and have a bit more time that is what I would recommend enjoy!,
Written 27 January 2017
Do you have behind-the-scenes tours available? Hands on experience?
Written 19 April 2016
They have an handler talk to a group about specific animals. They bring some animals out for each person to touch. This is an interactive lesson. They get audience participation in this group setting. Really recommend taking the time to do this part of the tour. When you go outside, you will be able to feed the domestic animals. It's a fun while learning type of place!
