Enjoy the many different activities throughout the year. A yearly membership is a great bargain for frequent visitors and/or local folks. Friday night music in the summer and Tuesdays at Two are my favorites.

Although we have visited the area many times, we had never stopped here until our recent trip in October. We spent two hours there! It's well worth the admission price. Very interesting information and museums!!! Really enjoyed our visit!

Visited The Great Smoky Mountain Heritage Center today. This has been on my list of things to do for a couple of years now. It is a nicely laid out museum of the life of mountain people from years gone by. Very well done. It features an inside museum as well as an outside exhibit that includes several buildings and... The Heritage Center was very historical and educational. They have original buildings which have been brought to the site from various places in the Smokey Mountains. There is a distillery, a "set-up" house, barn, home used for travelers, etc. The museum has a lot of artifacts from the area also. There is a short video which has local people talking... More

Good stop to find out a little of the general area. Lots of info and a small arts and crafts shop of local arts. Also has t-shirts and tourist trinkets.

The history of the area is shared in a hands on environment good for old and young alike. Make sure to watch the film presentation, it's very informative and as you make your way through the Museum and the outdoor buildings it helps bring everything into a complete story of the lives of all the people that have called this... If you're in this part of Eastern Tennessee the Heritage Center is worth a stop. Very good film about the local history and the people who settled the region. Nice artifact collections and restored pioneer buildings.

The woman at the entrance was friendly and helpful. She encouraged us to see the museum even though we only had a little time. Because my husband was a veteran, we were admitted free.we thoroughly enjoyed the exhibits, and will definitely try to go back to see the rest of the site.

If you stop by the Townsend Visitor Center you can pick up a coupon for a dollar off admission which makes it $4 for a senior. Worth every penny. Great exhibits including interactive exhibits and an interesting movie. You can get up close to the buildings and outdoor artifacts.
