We enjoyed the indoor displays and narratives. The outside tour was a bit of a let down. We expected to see houses and barns from the era but they had been recreated and updated some what. A disappointment.

Not only are there museum pieces inside but outside there are buildings that you would see in a town. In the 1800s. Loved being able to go inside those buildings. There are 3 indoor museum buildings to go in. I also felt the items in...More

Extensive inside collection divided between history of native peoples of area and their artifacts, and settlers life in the Appalachians. Dispels some of the myths popularized by Hollywood. Great gift shop. Wonderful collection of old buildings and artifacts outside, so bring your umbrella or raincoat...More

Anyone visiting the area should not miss the heritage center! The outside exhibits provide such a clear picture of Appalachian life. The galleries have great exhibits—including Native American relics found in the area. The gift shop has some nice treats, and the whole experience is...More

The Heritage Center will give a great background for the many cultures and people who were the earliest inhabitants of this area: Native American, Early Settlers, and Modern Man. The historical buildings have relatable interpretive information. The interior exhibits were well organized and offered a...More

It is worth stopping here before you visit Cade's Cove to increase your understanding of this area of Tennessee.

The heritage center has great outdoor exhibits which include original structures from the Smokies. The indoor portion was very informative and had some interactive displays my 15 year old son really enjoyed. We wish we'd come here before we did the Cade Cove loop in...More

We absolutely loved our visit. The outdoor exhibit consists of many different buildings and you are permitted to interact with the items displayed in the cabin and to ring the church bell. Our two small children loved being outdoors and playing pretend in the cabin....More

This park is great to drive to, great views of the mountains and river running alongside the road. Cades Cove drive is busy, but worth seeing and has places to spot and hike around.

I liked the mix of pre-park history inside as well as the great collection of buildings outside. Although, if there was a map of the buildings I missed it and it would have been helpful because I did feel like I wandered around trying to...More
