The church grounds are well-maintained, providing a serene and reflective environment. The interior is equally impressive, with its beautiful altar and religious artwork creating a tranquil space for contemplation. The church often hosts local events and masses, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the area.

A make-over is currently underway and this includes a protective and white colouring of the original ( now blackened stonework). It is rightly declared a National Treasure and dominated by a tremendous view of the Mount Mayon Volcano. Due to the scale of both almost imposible to do justice to them both together in any photograph. Well advice is clear, do not miss it on a trip to Legaspi. With roads a lot quieter and transport quicker in the smaller Legaspi City, there is really no excuse not to on a visit there. A small donation towards the rennovation is all that is asked for and will be gratefully recieved. The timeless view of church and Volcano are free of charge.

It was great being a religous person, having visited the church and the view of the Mayon Volcano. Vehicle parking space are adequate and a peaceful place especially in the morning during weekdays.

We went there for 7 degree grills, but the restaurant has moved to Legazpi. So, we visited the church instead. There is nothing special inside. But you can see Mayon from there.

This old church had been slightly altered to reinforce its structure. But the evidence of it being an 18th century edifice remains. It is beautiful in its antiquity and simplicity. Take nice shots of Mayon from this point.

The church has a cool façade from the discoloring, but other than that it really didn't interest me. After getting off the loop jeepney, you walk up a hill road. There are small sari stores at top selling food/drinks. There was a group singing in church so I didn't really go inside, rather I just looked in from front entrance.

The place has a good view of the Mayon Volcano, one of the perfect place to see its majestic and perfect cone. The church itself is beautiful, from the facade to the ceilings and the altar, everything is just majestic. Worth a visit when you go to Bicol/Daraga.

What I love about traveling across provinces in the Philippines is that every point is easily reachable with public transporation. It is a 10-minute tricycle ride from 1st Colonial uphill General Luna road. They implement fixed fare and it only costs Php 40 from the Hi-way.

Upon arriving at the foot of the Church, the breathtaking view of Mt. Mayon is on the east. The picturesque sight of Mayon Volcano never fail to draw amazement while facade of Parish is carved with intrinsic details. The pure white Church looks more beautiful as it is surrounded with clear blue skies.

It is written in the entrance that the Our Lady of the Gate Parish (La Nuestra Señora de Porterìa) is historically built in 1773 with Volcanic Rocks. This hispanic baroque architechture was then restored and the interiors is re-designed with modern style.

This is the same Church where "KathNiel" shot one scene in the local film "She's Dating The Gangster". There are stores across the Chuch and tricycles readily available to move you around the city.
