The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

The exhibits are really nice. I can't name one thing that I DON'T like about this zoo. The children's area is awesome! You could easily spend an hour in this area alone. There are horse rides, a petting zoo, lots of educational activities and a water play area, which is awesome when you need to cool off during the summer... More

As big city zoos go, this is good. The animals are well cared for and they have a variety of animals to see. I was impressed with the hands-on exhibits for the children.

This was the first time I had been to the Dallas Zoo in over 16 years and I was very impressed with the changes that had been made and to see the new Hippo habitat being built. The monorail ride was well worth the extra $5 each as you got to see sights and animals that you otherwise would not... More

Having studied zoology, I'm a bit of a zoo aficionado and have visited numerous zoological parks in the past. The Dallas Zoo is fabulous example of how to do it right! It was particularly heartening to see that some of the animals were obviously unable to live in the wild due to previous injury, but were being cared for here.... More

The kids were a bit bored with the set-up of the Zoo. Some animals were further away than other zoos and not as enjoyable. The lemur island was a bit hit and a must see. There are a lot of monkeys and such but many were in smaller than average enclosures. The koalas, Gummy and Toketo(?) were adorable. The walkways... More

Went for my little boy early bday, it was the 1st week of August. It was extremely hot that's pretty much all can remember. But then again I was 7 months pregnant, I was pretty miserable. There's a children's outdoor center, with a little water area. That they can get in (I loved it, felt good to my sore tired... More

I am a big fan of wildlife education and was not disappointed visiting the Dallas Zoo with its strong African wildlife and bird exhibits. It's not a very large zoo, which is a plus for families with small children because you can enjoy the entire zoo without wearing out the little ones (or yourselves!). I visited on a half-price holiday... More

We try to visit zoos in every city we go to and this zoo is one of our favorites! There are tons of animals and cute themes. We love the western village. You can feed birds with seed sticks (remember to bring cash!) Definitely worth a visit whether you have kids or not!
