This was an excellent museum experience. My friend and I decided to pop into this museum on a whim the day before I left town and man am I glad we did! The staff were quite knowledgeable and answered lots of random questions I had. The way that the galleries were set up made it a fun flowing process to... More

We visit Amon Carter frequently because this is a family friendly place to go especially on rainy days when we need to get out of the house. The art is always interesting and the history rich. This is a great family spot.

The Amon Carter is a truly excellent museum, but I was very disappointed with the special exhibit "Border Cantos". I am very surprised to find it at the Amon Carter. I would have expected it more at the Fort Worth Modern Art Museum. This is an exhibit which is more folk art in feel. It is professed to be apolitical,... More

A very nice museum. A great space very open and we'll lit so you can see all the exhibits. Friendly staff, eager to answer question and offer to help. The photo exhibit was awesome and the gentleman that was describing the antique cameras was very knowledgeable and friendly.

Went to the Museum during a wedding weekend on the advice of several people. Turns out it was very good advice. The works of Remington & Russell are featured in the permanent collection on the 1st floor & elsewhere. Other art from all of American history are exhibited. I can't say I'm a real art aficionado but all of it... More

I'm a bit puzzled why this Museum gets a Gem rating in the AAA Texas Guidebook. It's collection is good but doesn't hold a candle to the Kimbell Collection. We enjoyed our tour of the Amon Carter collection and especially the show highlighting the Border Wall and the treatment of immigrants from Central America and Mexico. Very provocative and moving!

Beautiful Phillip Johnson building with striking view of downtown towers, small free parking lot on Camp Bowie so you don't have to use the overpriced Cultural District pay lots, and wonderful permanent collection of Russell and Remington paintings and bronzes. Fairly small but high powered wide-ranging collection of many great American artists from Bierstadt to Childe Hassam to Mary Cassatt... More

I really enjoy this museum, they have regular exhibits and specialized exhibits each with a specific theme. The staff is very knowledgeable and the group tours are a must as the tour guides offer an extra insight into the artist and the pieces themselves. The admission is free and the parking is limited but free as well.

Convenient, proximate location amongst other museums / landmarks of Ft Worth. Free parking and a beautiful lovely space with integrated Texas stonework. Frederick Remington and Charles Russell's works are well featured, but they also have some nice representation of other American schools of art (John Singer Sargent, for example) and seem to always have some great photographic exhibitions. The staff... More
